    VW to build in Tennessee

Is this why it's such a bargain at $6.75 for 150 miles? We tried the whole tollroad lease deal here in Ontario with highway 407, billions of dollars were paid to the government. What a deal it was! But then the company it was leased to was sold to someone else and they saw a cash cow. Fast...

    Reefers

After 10,000 hrs a reefer will typically get expensive. Depends on brand and how well it was looked after (doesn't everything?).

    Kewl Ride

With twin 4in stacks and a Luberfiner oil filter on the cowl I'd be willing to bet it's a 318 2 stroke!

    Cargo Van Tips

I can't vouch for the 5w30 but in my Duramax (in a pickup) I have seen a near consistent 2% improvement with Mobil Delvac 1 (5w40 diesel oil). Thought I'd test it out and I admit I'm surprised at the fuel saving. Now if I can get the drain interval out far enough that it and the fuel saving will...

    Ontario passes speed limiter

First off, let me say I think this is a dumb law. More cops and higher fines are the answer and we should all slow down period. Here are some facts: The MTO CANNOT "download" anything. They know they can't do that as that is personal/company info and nothing in the text of the law allows them...

Why are they asking for a resume?

Could it be the carrier is just looking for a simpler way to verify past 3 yrs employment (DOT reg) than having everyone fill in an application with lousy handwriting? They have to do a background check on you (contractor or not) maybe this just helps?

    Rev's Ride 1

At 2100 rpm you are closer to the peak volumetric efficiency of the 6.0 liter. The engine makes better use of the air and fuel your feeding it and it makes up the difference you lose by going faster. The fact that it works this way for you tells me you got the drivetrain spec bang on!

MPG from differant truck stop brands

Is there a "top tier" list for us diesel folks Rev? I read that Sunoco Canada (Suncor) has a lot to do with Phillips 66 in Colorado (I think). Bought P66 diesel on the Kansas Pike once and it was good...and is always 10 cents cheaper than the J in Emporia!

MPG from differant truck stop brands

Esso diesel always seemed "thin" and mileage was lower. Agree on the order you got them in Rob, Sunoco seems to be best using the regular or premium diesel (truck smokes less on the premium). Also had really good results with QT in Missouri. Usually a solid 1-2 mpg improvement.

    Autoshift annoyance

Starting the truck or shifting out of drive don't require the gears in the transmission to be almost stopped. The neutral safety switch is not the culprit if the truck starts OK. The transmission is simply waiting for the gears to slow down enough to make the change from neutral into a gear. I...

    Cheap Tires true cost

The calculator on Michelin's website is actually a bit cautious. I used it to simulate results between different Michelin brands and the real world tests proved it right every time. With fuel as high as it is the results from good tires pay more than ever!

    Engine News

Cat will not be providing on highway truck engines that meet 2010 emissions. They are going to focus on the off highway world instead. The "vocational" truck project between them and International will use a "CAT" branded International diesel. AND, Freightliner has announced full...

    Autoshift annoyance

Auto shifts (the three pedal trucks) will not shift from neutral to a gear unless the transmission speed is almost stopped. To get the transmission to stop turning you have to engage the clutch brake, which is done by putting the clutch pedal to the floor. If you don't use the clutch brake it...

    Another Freightliner horror story

The DD13 with the SCR emission system (2010) is going to be a real fuel mizer. Enough to make a person wait to buy one instead of an 09. If you can get 14mpg out of a truck Team C surely will!

Important Ruling on In Cab Laptops pending

Ontario is considering a ban on using ANYTHING electronic that requires your input while driving.
