    more than one carrier

Most carriers have an exclusive use built into their lease agreement. Sometimes you can broker freight on your own then transport it under your leased carriers authority for a percentage of your revenue. But they certainly don't want you to help their competition.

    Express 1

I can't comment on Express One but I think every company prefers teams over solo drivers simply because a team has the hours to keep going.

    Who Locked The Panther Thread?

I was the moderator who was responsible for locking the thread. Why? I felt 59 replies to the original poster was enough. The replies were becoming redundant and the topic was old. BTW I do not run for Panther but for their main competitor so I had no biasis to lock this thread. As far as...

    Fuel line broken

Can you tell us which Freightliner dealer charged you for the leak. I have a Cummins C and was constantly changing a rubber fuel line from the filter to the fuel pump. Cummins said this was the proper fuel line, one day my local F/Liner dealer called and said "this is not the right fuel line,it...

Creekindian, If thats the type of comments you are going to make to these forums why don't you GO AWAY. This man cares about his family and has guilt about leaving them. He is a family man and working hard to support them. He was looking for some helful advice as to handle the time away. Your...

With the rising price of fuel....

About 5 years ago a good guy (Jim Bunting) posted about the catalytic heaters discussed in this topic. I have used them ever since and they are inexpensive, put out gobs of heat and are not dangerous. I usually don't leave them on all night but keep one by the bunk and when I wake up in my...

    No bid Hurrican contracts

I was one in Florida last year who was paid well but never moved. Landstar has had the FEMA transportaion contract for a number of years and they do a good job getting equipment available. The key word is available. No one knows or can predict where the logstics solutions will be needed. They...

    Need Advice

I am not a company man but I try over and over to advise drivers that you do not have a business relationship with the carrier that has the signs on the truck. Your relationship is with the owner who has the agreement with the carrier. Written agreements are necessary to cover all possible...

    Fuel Leak

I would try to get it repaired asap.Little leaks tend to become big leaks at the worst possible moment. The DOT would go after you for a haz/mat spill. If nothing else you can call the Freightliner hot line, 1-800-FTL-Help and someone could advise you and steer you to a location that could...

uShip, a real value to expediting?

I looked at it and started to register but when they wanted my birth date, drivers license number and a credit card too many red flags went up. No matter how you look at it it is a commercial transaction of a shipper and a carrier(you) . If you go interstate some type of authority needs to be in...

    New Competition for Expediters

Perhaps you could use the tarps and some load bars to rig up some sails on the roof. With the right wind condions you could knock out some real MPG,but you would need to watch out for the overpasses. Have a quick disconnect setup to lower the bars when the overpasses come into sight.

    another Panther policy???

Years ago Roberts Express utilized HHG (Household Goods Miles) which was the absolute shortest way. You would be given a 300 mile trip and going by the suggested routing it would sometimes be as much as 60 miles more. Well eventually a minor rebellion took place. People would stop at the paid...

    Truck Stop

Another great independent truck stop bites the dust. The El Paso Travel Plaza on I 10 exit 37 has been aquired by the 'Hot Fuel" Flying J. I always liked this place which was operated by Hispanics, always spotless and great food at reasonable prices. Now we will have the dried out buffet and...
