Now you know where all of these so-called "discounts" come from. Aren't monopolies wonderful?

Time to be the dart board!

Why bring politics into this? ;)

Things might be getting even slower....

I'm finding that more and more longhaul trucking companies are dispatching at 50mph, and not charging for it. I won't work for them, because if I wanted to do expediting, it wouldn't be at .36/mi while driving a big truck, that's for sure.

Then don't complain if someone drops a duece in a ts parking lot, cause it's the same selfish argument. If you're not running cheap, you're sure fighting that fight.

It should be $2, and t/ts should be $3, according to what prices used to be, adjusted by inflation. Problem is, our customers aren't a captive audience. There is plenty of competition for them to shop around.

Time to be the dart board!

You're absolutely right - van drivers are unskilled labor. So are politicians. But it's not like the problems vans are seeing, doesn't happen in straights or t/t. There are people in all three categories who are convinced to run harder, not smarter. In fact, truckload is full of those people...

Time to be the dart board!

We are independents, but as such, we still need to try to push what the market will bear. That gadget maker has jacked his price up three times, yet still enjoys freight rates below what the 80s gave us. Isn't it time we had ours, as an industry? I'm not talking unions here, I'm talking PRIDE.

Time to be the dart board!

That's the point I was making when OVM and I were in that big tiff about lowballing. Once enough lowballers get rates to be .20 lower than last year, and everyone gets used to it, then another group of lowballers will work for .20 less this year, which will be the standard for next year. But I...

Time to be the dart board!

Because your cost of living is less, would you take less per hour at the steel mill, while all of your buddies there are making twice as much? Our industry is lacking a huge sense of pride, in how much our labor is really worth. Instead, we look to make that up in volume, and listen to what...

I've got 60 pepper plants that are screaming to be let out of the basement, and planted outside. I hate winter too.

    What are my options?

Have you read this article posted in the 2nd opinion thread? When is it OK for a trucker to get a second opinion on a DOT physical? My assumption was that the OP had a diagnosis of sleep apnea during the first visit for his medical card. If that were the case, you are allowed a 2nd opinion...

    What are my options?

You have to put down exactly what you did on your form from the first physical, in order for the second opinion to be accepted. If you didn't put the apnea diagnosis down on the first one, because that's when you were first diagnosed, you don't have to on the second. You don't have to tell the...
