I'm finding that more and more longhaul trucking companies are dispatching at 50mph, and not charging for it. I won't work for them, because if I wanted to do expediting, it wouldn't be at .36/mi while driving a big truck, that's for sure.

It should be $2, and t/ts should be $3, according to what prices used to be, adjusted by inflation. Problem is, our customers aren't a captive audience. There is plenty of competition for them to shop around.

You're absolutely right - van drivers are unskilled labor. So are politicians. But it's not like the problems vans are seeing, doesn't happen in straights or t/t. There are people in all three categories who are convinced to run harder, not smarter. In fact, truckload is full of those people...

Have you read this article posted in the 2nd opinion thread? When is it OK for a trucker to get a second opinion on a DOT physical? My assumption was that the OP had a diagnosis of sleep apnea during the first visit for his medical card. If that were the case, you are allowed a 2nd opinion...
