    How low will you go?

A mile is still 5280 feet, no matter which direction you run it in, and it still costs the same to run it. People live all over this country, so every location is someone's home.

    July Locations 2011 ;) Dollas!!!

Not if you keep telling people about it. Laredo here. Nice long one from NY. We're going to head up to Houston to visit my wife's aunt and uncle.

    out bidding loads

That's what a lot of people around here believe, but it's actually not the case. The larger carriers might have more overhead, but they don't have to cover all of that overhead off of one truck. The guy with one truck has to make all his profit margin off each load, while a larger carrier can...

    July Locations 2011 ;) Dollas!!!

Teaming with my wife for the summer. It's been pretty busy for us lately. Took one from the house down to Bradenton, FL and now headed to drop tomorrow in Delaware. Probably going to be hanging around New Jersey for the weekend unless we get lucky.

Do straight truck have to keep a log book

Straight trucks don't have to have a log book, but the driver does.

    Enlightment?

I don't have that coverage and we haul plenty of their loads. Then again, when we signed their agreement they didn't require that and we're probably grandfathered in.

Some of our drivers do this already. It works great and a scanner pays for itself with money you don't spend on faxes.

Still sitting down in Waycross, roasting in peace and trying to figure out if there is a way to pay drivers before paperwork arrives. So far I haven't come up with anything.

    June Location

The work was done on the truck by 10:00 am. Freight was in the back end by noon, 800 miles from Cumberland to Waycross for the railroad.

    Slow Freight IVX....

It's pretty slow for the cargo vans at the moment. Just too many of them.

Sitting in a motel room in Maryland waiting on a truck repair and trying to deal with "carrier issues." Anytime I see people complain about a carrier on here, I always take it with a grain of salt, but it's a little different when you're on the receiving end.

    DeMaris Transportation

Maybe we need to get Paul Harvey in here. All of our owner operators or fleet owners sign a contract that states that payment is made within 15 days of receipt of paperwork. Many loads pay quicker than that, but that is what the contract states. Now, there was a problem with a couple ACH...

Are you a Toy Story, Cars, Pixar or Cheers Fan?

Great episode, but wild turkeys actually can fly.

Exit 22 on I-68 in Maryland.......but at the Comfort Inn instead of the Pilot. Truck down for repairs.

Who to sign up with for ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE?

    I don't drive loaded.

    broker fees

I'm more interested in getting the money the broker is getting rather than offering discounts.

Yep. Turned out to be a ruptured hose. It was pretty obvious because it was the one with all the fluid leaking out.

    June Location

So I come out again for a boost to the revenue and now here I sit off I-78 waiting on road service. Steering just went out. Probably a belt or some such. Just hoping it's nothing too expensive.

I bid on that load for one of our drivers who lives in Montana. Now I know who got it. I got him something else to Idaho anyway.
