Sad news, we've lost a member.

He had a great set up for a van. He was also incredibly professional as a driver. He was driving for us right at the time when I was wanting to transition from being an "independent" to being a carrier and eventually getting off the road. We had just gone from the small carrier level up to...

Sad news, we've lost a member.

After his stint driving for Bolt, Phil drove for us for a couple months while he was getting his authority in order. You couldn't ask for a more thorough professional.

Sad news, we've lost a member.

I've recently found out via Linda at my factoring company and from Jeremy Nimmo (Blizzard) that Phillip Valliere, known here as 60MPH, passed away on the 12th of this month. His mother called a couple people off his cell phone and I got calls from Jeremy and from Linda yesterday. No other...

Finish this sentence...The coolest thing I have ever hauled is...

An organ for a transplant, with the doctor who was carrying it the whole time, about a 20 minute drive from the airport to the hospital.

Any Monkey Can Be A Dispatcher!

I would write more, but I'm busy doing what you describe.

I got the moves like jagger!

Some of the most interesting things I ever hauled when I was on the road were in or out of military bases.

Senate Proposes New 100k Surity Bond For Freight Brokers!

Tell me about it. I know when you were hauling our stuff all I had to do was give you the info and forget about it. That's peace of mind there.

    Pre Pass

A comma in a different place would change the whole meaning of this sentence. What does that say about where my mind is this morning?

    T&K

Or maybe if there were FEWER carriers there wouldn't be LESS money in the loads.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. There is no better feeling for a dispatcher.

Starting out Brand New to the business.... Please Help!

You can make do with an 18' box but I wouldn't go out in a day cab. The road is hard enough with a good sleeper. We have an 18' truck running for us and there is a good amount of freight that fits. That truck also has a decent sized sleeper. With that said, a larger box will get you more...

    T&K

I think he was talking about loads being exclusive use, no double dipping. Anyway, I know that is the policy for Sylectus, but how easy is that to enforce? You could check the MCS-150, but a company could have 20 vans and they wouldn't necessarily be listed on that if they don't have any...

Senate Proposes New 100k Surity Bond For Freight Brokers!

Yes, the little guy does start out with some disadvantages, but over time a small carrier can build a good reputation by providing something called good service. I've learned a few things about that in the 4 1/2 years we've been operating. I started out just running myself under my authority...

    NLMI-Landstar

I'm not sure where those loads went. I've been looking into that. If I find out, I'll let you know.

    NLMI-Landstar

NLM is now called Landstar Supply Chain, or something like that, but it still operates pretty much the same. We haven't really noticed any differences except that NLM has lost a couple customers they used to have, International being one of them.

Would you pay $20.00 a week for Ez Pass and Pre Pass.

As a carrier, I'd do that in a heartbeat, because of the times the truck wouldn't run in the toll areas and we'd be collecting money from a driver for nothing. As a driver, no way I'd do that. I'd just as soon get it on my own and not pay for it when I'm not doing toll roads, or when I have...

    Bidding boards

So true. We consistently get loads from brokers when they get lower bids from other carriers because we have a track record for good service. I learned that the hard way myself when I got a call to move a load and I didn't have a truck in the area. I brokered it out and the people who ran it...
