    E-Logs vs Drivers Harassment

You want to fix the problem at shippers and receivers? Make detention pay and dry run charges punitive. Charge enough that it hurts and get rid of the free hour or two that a lot of people give. You wouldn't need government regulation if people were getting nailed for every TONU and every...

    giving drivers a bad name

The whole time I spent on the road, most of that time in a Sprinter and a few months in a straight, I never once used a bottle. There were times I pulled into a rest area or a fast food joint with my eyes floating, but I just never could bring myself to do it. I once pulled off on US 59...

    Nogales az

We had a truck in Phoenix recently and I saw a lot of freight coming out of Nogales, more than there was out of Phoenix.

    giving drivers a bad name

And people wonder why some straight truck drivers park in the RV spots at the J rather than out back.

Fellow expediter injured @ TA in Laredo TX.

When I was on the road, I almost did that a couple times. You do a long stint behind the wheel and then go to climb out and you can get careless or the muscles aren't quite working right. I will pray for her for sure, but this is a reminder to all of us to be careful getting in and out of a truck.

    Turri Transportation and Logistics

Maybe so, and by the way, I'm glad you guys had that nice load out of Denver. My driver was quite happy to get east bound out of there that fast. Made me look good.

    $15,000 sign on bonus??

Those shippers simply want a truck that is tracked. That can be done just as effectively with macropoint.

    OOIDA thanks us

I know that scenario is technically a violation, but does it really present a safety concern? My other question still remains. I know there are the bad apples who carry multiple log books and run all kinds of hours straight and something needs to be done about those people, but how many people...

    OOIDA thanks us

I have a few concerns with the electronic logs, and I'm not even on the road anymore. Some of our straights are solos. I shouldn't have to worry about a guy's clock starting because he got tired of sitting at the truck stop and decided to go to the mall, a restaurant, a movie theater, etc...

    $15,000 sign on bonus??

So that's $1820 a year in QC fees. I think I'm going to start advertising an $1820 sign on bonus, paid out over 12 months, since we don't have QC.

    $15,000 sign on bonus??

How much is coming out in that same period in QC fees and other nickels and dimes?

    Barrett Directline

That's been my experience. Plus, it's fun to mess with Steve when the Razorbacks lose and he's good natured enough not to get too irritated about it.

    Kudos to CIS

I switched to them when the company I was with before stopped providing commercial insurance. I don't regret that decision one bit. I did save some money, but you can't put a price tag on the level of knowledge they have. I can call them up because a customer needs a new cert or a new filing...

Which Companys Do Not Require a CDL To Drive A Cargo Van ?

We don't require a CDL because it's not required by law to operate anything that isn't over 26k gvw, but to tell the truth, we're starting to focus more on straights now anyway.

How Are You Getting Paid for Tolls?

The important thing isn't whether or not you feel that you want money for being detained or not or if that extra stop is right on your way or not. A lot of times a driver will tell me not to worry about trying to get things like detention or dry run or extra stop or what not, but I feel...

How Are You Getting Paid for Tolls?

That's why I do things the way I do, just bidding a bit higher on the load and letting the driver pay his own tolls. I don't separate it out and call it anything other than pay. Money's money. I'm not the one having to go through the toll booths, so the driver might as well be able to get the...

    March 2012 Locations

Current location, at my desk. I have a driver who's been out for a while and I just got an email from his daughter. She is making us a load offer. She wants her father expedited home A.S.A.P. She then included the address and instructions that this is a residential delivery. What should I...
