Milford, CT catching up on admin stuff and trying to dispatch some other trucks. Might do something tomorrow when I'm caught up on paperwork and have fresh hours.

    help finding a broker

Actually, just an MC number. You only need the DOT if you're running something over 10k. I ran my Sprinter for a couple years without a DOT number and didn't even get a DOT number until we leased on our first straight truck.

There's been quite a bit of that Waycross yard lately. Not a bad idea to stay close to there.

We lost the driver we had in our 16 footer and I took it out for a bit to keep it making money. Sitting in Portsmouth, NH looking for the first thing back to the house. This truck has a 96" sleeper and an APU, so it's a bit more comfy than my Sprinter, but I don't really care for this log book...

    Site seeing and log books

I'm curious how folks handle this. You make a delivery and you want to do some non work stuff that would involve driving somewhere. (theater, gym, sports stadium, etc.) How are you logging that? I've heard a lot of varying opinions on the subject. How do you handle that, log it as driving...

    straight truck without CDL

We have a straight with a 16' box and 96" sleeper and a GVW of 26k that we've had a couple different drivers in. With the last team we had in the truck and full fuel, we had a 7000 lb payload. I scaled it the other day with just myself and came up with 7200. It would seem that anything...

Solo's...how many miles do YOU get a week??

Panther and Fedex are still paying around 30 days and Panther has an in house quick pay for around 3%. I don't know what you consider a long time, but in today's market, that's quick.

    Saying yes to a load

If you're taking everything that comes your way, then I don't want to hear any griping when you're sitting in Billings for a week. There's more to consider than just miles. Quality is as important as quantity.

    Rates for CV's

He asked what rates carriers are bidding. The bid board freight is going dirt cheap no matter how you look at it.

    Way too low.

    Hot shot trucks and loads

Are you filling out a contract with a partner carrier, or trying to lease the trucks on somewhere? A lot of those partner agreements have an area like that.

WHO From EO, Has Helped You the Most?

Getting rid of that "don't wanna" list was the best business decision I ever made, and y'all can guess who I first saw post that bit of advice.

    West Coast

It's getting rough for anyone to keep vans busy right now, no matter the coast.

loads and where did they go

Where did the loads go? On larger trucks.

    Jumping Load boards

If there was a magic load board with all kinds of expedite freight on it everyone would be on that board and then the freight wouldn't pay that much, but then again, one of those kind of already exists.

Congress Targets Detention Time at The Docks

You can trust the federal government to always do what's right. They have our best interests in mind. There's nothing to worry about. (And don't let me catch you peeking behind that curtain either. There's nothing there.)

    Slow Cargo Van Freight Toledo-Detroit

Van freight is just plain slow right now, and there are probably a few different reasons for it. I think more freight is getting consolidated onto larger trucks for one, by design or by carriers who are treating cargo van freight like LTL and running it too cheap for exclusive use. I think...

    The Inevitable Begins

I'd like to check with Paul Harvey and get "the rest of the story." We're not going to cancel any van contracts right now because of slow van freight, but I'm just being brutally honest with van drivers about how things are. If it doesn't cost me anything to have a van sitting around, why...

Congress Targets Detention Time at The Docks

Paying for the time doesn't address the whole problem. Letting a driver stop his clock while detained is the other part of that. Regarding the comment about Sylectus members boycotting NLM. That will never happen. Too many of them make a killing double brokering NLM loads to the Sylectus...
