    Finally got the forklift

Well, marketing it is something I'll have to figure out. I've notified everyone we currently do business with, so now I'm looking for more areas to advertise it.

    Finally got the forklift

You mean, "Y'all stay the heck out of my way!" isn't an adequate safety program?

    Finally got the forklift

Got the forklift, dock plate, and pallet jack delivered yesterday, so we now have a functional cross dock. Now how long until people start beating our door down to use it? I got a Crown 3 wheel electric. The thing is extremely maneuverable and very quiet, except with the backup beeping...

Cheap Fright Say NO to cheap Fright

Yes, say no to cheap fright. You just don't know what you're going to get from those low priced haunted houses.

Anyone in a Sprinter running for less then .90 a mile?

    A. Blair owns the vehicles though. I always figured they paid a bit more than that. They don't lowball their bids.

    Brokers

I just posted a cargo van load out of El Paso. I have so far 21 bids and all of them are under $1 a mile. Who's to fault for rate erosion?

FINDING PARS RETURN FREIGHT.. to not come back empty all the time

What carrier are you with? We have an office in northern Cincinnati with a dock, and we like to book Canadian loads from farther out, have our drivers bring the freight here, and then swap it to a Canadian truck trying to get home. If you're ever in Ohio looking to get home, that might be a...

Anyone in a Sprinter running for less then .90 a mile?

Brokering has been a bit of an eye opener. Sometimes some of the lowest bids I get when I post loads are from larger carriers. The small operations aren't lowballing too bad, with a couple exceptions. I usually throw out the lowest bids anyway and offer the loads to the people who are bidding...

    Straight Trucks with APU

I just read this thread. Only two points from me. For starters, I never parked in the back when I was on the road. Leave that to the big trucks. And my other point is in reply to why would someone run an APU when the weather is nice. What exactly is a driver supposed to do while he's...

    Loads from hell

Hamilton, OH to Cahokia, IL a few years ago. Light freight, some wooden panels going to Midcoast Aviation there, should have been an easy 350 mile run. It picked up at 4:00 pm and had to deliver the next morning at 10:00 am. I picked it up and a huge midwest wide snowstorm hit, must have...

    Loads from hell

What kind of freight exactly comes out of hell? I've always heard of people going there but I've yet to encounter any of them shipping anything out. I wonder if their shipping department is a union shop. I'd sure as hell hate to be detained there because of some forklift driver taking lunch.

    It is Septemeber...where R U?

We took advantage of the long weekend and went up to Niagara Falls for the weekend. Did everything to do at the falls and went up to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Just got back last night and back at the office today. I just left a couple people watching the phones from home over the...

    Top 10 Best Expedite company's. ☚

Re: Top 10 Best Expedite company's. In a lot of ways it really does come down to a personal preference thing, depending on what kind of vehicle you have. If we get calls from cargo van folks, I tell them I'd have a hard time keeping them busy and they would be better off going with a larger...

Is landstar still the leader in expediting?

If you're counting carriers above a certain size. We nearly doubled our revenue from 2012 to 2013, and 2014 is shaping up to be about a 30% increase from the previous year. When you're small and growing, those kinds of percentage increases are more likely anyway.

    ALS ICE Bucket Challenge

I'm so sick of the word awareness. It's not like you're making people aware of something. What you're trying to raise is concern. Most people are aware of everything people are trying to raise "awareness" of, but what you have to do is make people give a darn.
