    Tools for your truck

In my oppinion, there are not many people that will attempt to work on their vehicles. I was rotating my tires (I drive a van) in a truck stop parking lot (you know, waiting for a load and what else can I do better than rotate my tires :D) and another driver stopped by and told me that 'It...

    IFTA tax and fuel price

Thanks Leo, I really learned something today, even though I don't use it since I drive a B unit. But just in case I move up one day, I know how these fuel taxes work. Thanks again. I wonder how do states come up with these tax rates? And how come there is so much difference between 2 sates...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

I don't know, but if you have air mixed with the diesel going ino the engine, you have a leak somwhere and air gets in. Fix that instead of installing the $1000 snake oil. But I guess if it makes you feel good about it and you feel that you have more power, etc, do it.

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

I was one of the 3k miles guy as well when I was changing the oil in my car maybe 3 times a year, and I was doing it for about $10 a piece. But, when I started into the expediting and I needed an oil change every month and a half to two months, in the busyer times even monthly (and this at 10k...

    Landstar?

Landstar Express America still exists. If one of those 2 vans there is from Georgia, that is one of my friends who does not want anything to do with computers, so no forums. I know she has been there for a week (probably not at the Petro there, but in NJ) and as everybody else, is very slow...

    Bolt Express Questions

I think I figured it out why you are running so hard. You keep going where the snow is and nobody else is there. :D Last week you were in Denver, snow there, then Virginia, snow, now MA/CT/xx snow. :)

    Sleeper for Sprinter?

Here is my advice for you on this. Do not get into it right now. However, if you still want to get in, do not buy a new vehicle. To get a new sprinter it will cost you over $40000. To add one of those sleeper thingies, I don't know, but I suspect about $10000, I might be wrong, but still a lot...

Why would an owner charge a driver for tolls?

I agree with you, no point in signing a contract and then complain. My point was that the alternative would be to keep looking for other owner, and probably that one still has something that you don't like, and after looking at a few, sign one that you are most comfortable with, and don't...

Why would an owner charge a driver for tolls?

Sometimes (read: most of the time) it is not that simple. When I signed my contract, I didn't necesarily like it, but I agreed with what it said. Some parts of my contract I din't like at all, but what would the alternative be?

    $52,000 a year driving an E unit ?

    Read Your Contract!

Yep, when I left the said company, they charged me 250. I asked them what it is for, since I removed the QC myself. They responded that it is the fee they charge to have the QC units refurbished. I was wondering, why do we have to pay for the reburbishing of the company's QC? Well, I guess this...

To Those of You Still Standing

Like Doug, I don't have anything else that I can do now that I have not been doing. I started all these things about a year ago when the fuel started going up. I slowed down a lot and saw a big difference in mileage, don't eat out any more, drink only water that I refill at walmart or publix...

    What would you do?

I would expect the owner to pay you on time for the work you do. If he doesn't get paid from the carrier, he should take it with them.

    Cargo Van Cafe'

Yes, you were able to negotiate because there weren't any other vehicles to do the load. Haven't been able to negotiate on a load since the rate change.
