More Doom & Gloom to preach!

Truckers are easy targets because they are law abiding citizens and they are not allowed by law to have anything in the truck to defend themselves with.

Ok , what are the monthly $$

I will tell you what fees I pay (I drive a 2004 Sprinter). Truck insurance: $75/month (this is for a $15000 value van, you will pay more for a more expensive van) Work accident insurance: the more money I make, the more I pay, up to $50 weekly, when I don't work I pay $0 Qualcomm: $30/week if...

    Fright Hauling Expediters

You are right, this is like a paid move, but would you take a paid move from SC to El Paso?

    Another Brilliant Panther Move

I cannot believe what I am seeing here. I wonder what 'no forced dispatch' means any more. We don't force you to take this load, but if you don't your next offer comes your way next week. Tri-state's 8 hours out of service for a refusal looks like nothing compared to this.

    Know Your Clearance

Wow, have you seen the one where the front end jumped up in the air about 3 feet when it hit the bridge? I bet that those drivers are watching the clearance signs even when driving their cars from now on.

    Last Sterling Truck

I don't know moot, but I see it differently. Ford still makes trucks. This would be more in line with 'Lincoln rolled off last car', or Saturn, or Pontiac, or Cadillac. I don't know, to me it is sad to see a Brand name go.

    Last Sterling Truck

The last Sterling truck rolls off the assembly plant in St. Thomas. More here: The End of An Era - St. Thomas Times-Journal - Ontario, CA Sad, but I think we will hear more stories like this in the future.

Is Truck Stop Customer Service Improving?

Speaking about RVs, have you tried to pull in teh J at Carmel Church, VA or Carlisle, PA? Maybe others too, but these 2 stuck out to me. All car parking, not only RV parking is taken up by these RVs from Quebek. I drive a van and it was difficult to get in and out of there. And to be honest, I...

    Battery Drain

Yep, been doing this for a while, but I had a hard time convincing other family members to do the same, until I found another article about this and then they believed me. They still don't do it all the time though :(:rolleyes:

    Daylight Savings Time

Believe it or not, I thought it was, but did not see any smilies and I thought you were serious. Anyway, really, to us as expediters, it does not matter, except that we have to convert the time that the dispatch gives us, so, in my oppinion, much more trouble than to get along with the gov'ment...

Is Truck Stop Customer Service Improving?

I use the J for fuel and showers, no food. I only see one difference now compared to before bankrupcy. The lines at the registers seem to be longer. Whenever I buy fuel (always pay at the pump) and the printer at the pump is out of paper and need to go in to get the receipt there are usually...

    Daylight Savings Time

Shooter, I really have to disagree with you on this one (I agree with most of what you say on this site) but on this one you butchered it pretty bad. By changing from standard to daylight saving time you are not changing how many hours of daylight the earth sees. The earth sees just as many...

    Daylight Savings Time

Makes sense, but how are you going to log it in the fall? Do you double line between 2 and 3 in the morning?

Who is Getting Truck Loans These Days?

Not me. Towards the end of last year I was looking hard at a new sprinter. I really like the looks of the new one, but the sense got back into me and I did not get in debt. Glad I did not with the economy the way it is. And I probably will run my current one into the ground before I get a new one.
