Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

Whatever you guys may be thinking, it does not cost much the carriers to replace me. Every time they send me a letter requireing me to comply with another one of their rules, they keep reminding me that they can end my contract for any and no reason. The last one I got was a letter that I need...

Still getting to a cool place every now and then.

The only Blackbird that I saw was the one in Huntsville, AL in front of the museum. Amazing aircraft. B52 is not bad either. :D

Major loss in the battle against cheap freight!!

For me, I do the same thing I have done under the old (non opportunity) and new (load opportunity) system. If the load doesn't pay my profitable rate I turn it down. The difference now is that I rarely, very rarely I get the opportunity to negotiate any more since almost all the time someone...

How is the new rate working for you?

Just curious, do they offer 'b' loads to 'c' units at .85 a mile?

Poll: Pay per mile, or percentage pay?

Percentage all the way. When I started in expediting I was with a company on a fixed rate. I was offered a short load that was paying me $220 including a fuel surcharge, but they told me to pick up the check also since that company was known to not pay for the freight. The check was for $660...

How is the new rate working for you?

I am out of service right now since I took a vacation right after the new rate came in place. I only got a chance to do one load at this new rate. I will be back sometime next week, around the 28th of January.

How is the new rate working for you?

B unit drivers, how does the new rate work for you? Have you had more offers than before the rate change? What are you doing with the short loads (>75 miles)? Any other comments about the new rate? Thanks.

    New FedEx Van Rate

Sent mine in a few weeks ago, never got back the one that they are suppose to sign. Hope all is well.

    We WILL Survive 2009

Well, I am driving a B unit for FedEx, and since they go with a flat rate in about 2 weeks, I have no more incentive of doing short loads, especially leaving home with a short load. No point in ending up in a dead area or deadheading back home, and loose the whole day for no money. And I know...

    How many Hours a day?

No loads this year yet, so that makes it 24 hours a day, I think. So, I should vote more than 12, right? :)

    When do you Sleep/

Thanks. I use Google Earth once in a while, and I have internet in the truck, but never thought about looking up the consignee. Will definitely do that from now on, since sometimes it happens that some places are open and will unload you early.

    When do you Sleep/

Never got a motel room yet. As for sleeping, I stop when I am sleepy. On a long run I always end up having 2-3 hours extra. If I don't get sleepy I deliver and then go to sleep. There are some loads that don't deliver until the next day in the morning and I can get to the consignee around...

    Checking Your Stats

Good advice. Last year I saw that I had a late pickup and tracked it down to a load that I had about 4 months prior that they gave me the wrong address. But when I called, it was too late, they did not have the phone conversations any more. Bummer. If I had called earlier, it would have been...

    Flying J Files Bankruptcy

There are Flying Js in different parts of the country that are either low supply or out completely, both gas and diesel. FL, VA, OH, IN, PA, TX, MO. Hopefully this is just a glitch in the supply line. You can see all places here. Yellow is low supply, brown is critical supply, red is out.

    C-Link question

Today I had a load that canceled and on the way home I stopped at the C-Link place in Atlanta and they replaced the dome and the keyboard. It seems that it works good now. We will see if it lasts. Happy New Year to you all.
