HOS Changes Effective February 27, 2013

The only way that can be called a driver shortage is if that load doesn't get covered in some other way. I would guess that those empty trucks have more to do with decreased demand than driver shortage. The deal with people talking about empty trucks at a terminal gets blown waaaay out of...

    Walmart cell phone plan

I had a Net10 Walmart phone a few years back. It used AT&T towers. I don't remember having any more or any less signal coverage with it than the contract AT&T phone that I replaced it with. We are usually on or close to an interstate, which is where most of the towers are. If I saw a good deal...

    The Driver Shortage

I'll believe it when shippers begin to talk about their freight that isn't getting moved because of all the empty trucks. Crappy companies to work for have driver shortages and recruiting programs. Good companies have waiting lists. Any question?

HOS Changes Effective February 27, 2013

Well, most people seem to be pretty happy working an 8 hour day/ 40 hour week. I've never understood why we're not trying to get rates that would allow us to make at least the same money that everyone else makes for an 8 hr day/ 40 hr week. You'll have to look pretty hard outside of trucking to...

    Driving position open

You can look at it two ways...both come out the same and are fair. You can look it at as if your getting ,44/mile for all the miles you drive personally.....or you can figure your getting .22/mile for the miles you drive + .22/mile for the miles driven by the other driver. You can't really...

Due Diligence when choosing a carrier, especially for newbies

It's too easy to cover your true intentions or your lack of capitol. I wouldn't base my decision on whether or not they worked out of an office or a basement. I would base my decision on how quick they put money in my pocket after I ran a load for them. It's hard for them to screw you out of it...

    Panther and Expediters Service

That was definitely a rough start to the industry. Sounds like you've kept your spirits up and escaped to fight another day! Attitude is everything and you seem to have it. Hopefully, you have seen the worst of your expedite career and nothing but blue skies from now on!

    Panther and Expediters Service

You really should call ES and ask them. The best answer you're likely to get here is second hand. They have a phone number and people to talk to for a reason....they WANT to do business. Give 'em a call.

    windows on van

I have to disagree with the two of you on that...or at least ask why you consider it unprofessional? It seems to me that if you take the steps to black out the windows, possibly insulate them also which would be cheap and easy to do, you could have just as good of a setup as if you started with...

    Question Regarding Whirlwind Express

They don't just run vans. I talked to straight truck driver once who was running loads for them. He had his own authority. It seems that they had the ability to get loads, and decent rates. How, I don't know...but they apparently did good on that side of the business. Maybe they were giving up...

    Your Sprinter Sleeper

Thats how I had .mine originally also. Then I realized that If I separated the two and slid the bed up behind the seats, it left me with full use of the van when empty. My bulkhead still functions the same, but it movable and I can sit it to the side leaving the floor open all the way to the...

is this the perfect sprinter alternative?

CargoMax does use different sizes front and rear. I'm not a fan of it although I own on. Their competition, Ultramax, uses the same size rims front and rear and they are built very similar to the CargoMax. Ultramax is built in Indiana vs CargoMax being built in Canada. The UltraMax in my opinion...

Sure it was funny. I chuckled. I started to post a similar wise-crack, but didn't. Typos are common, no big deal. Some just leave you more open for cheap shots from peanut gallery....you got a cheap shot. It's all good.
