    SmartPhone Survey

HTC EVO here. Love the phone, love Android system and the apps, but I really hate the battery life. Rarely it lasts more than 24 hours. After this, I am going back to a simple phone that can call and text only, and the battery lasts 5 days. One year and a half left on my contract. :(

    T-Chek / T/A Reprice

A few times now I bought fuel at a TA and the price with the discount was close to what the nice lady on the phone says when you call to check the price (usually 3 cents higher or thereabouts). Then I check my T-Chek account and I see that there is a deposit added to my card with the same date...

looking to buy a cargo van

No funnel needed. The fumoto drain valve has a little pipe in it probably 1" long and the gas can fits right onto that pipe, open the valve and the oil all goes into the can. I take it in to Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone, or Walmart, and I am sure there are a few more who accept used oil for...

looking to buy a cargo van

Turtle, About a year and a half ago when I met you and Eddie at the J in SC somewhere I saw the Fumoto valve and the gas can on your van and I installed one on mine and I bought a gas can and I have been doing my oil changes on the road. Last one was in a sams parking lot in Michigan. I use...

TA Fuel Discount is no more

Sorry to go off topic, but how do you manage not to pay a fee? My t-chek has a $0.5 fee every time I use it.

Where Do Those Loads Come From and Why?

Aha, there is the problem. They offer those 'b' loads to you guys instead of giving them to us lowly van drivers :) To try to answer the question, there is someone desperate enough to take the low paying load, or someone that needs to go in that direction and is cheaper to take a low paying...

    fuel additives and oil additives

Haven't used any fuel additives yet. My coldest temperature was -4 degrees. If I get to places where it is colder than that, I will add some anti gelling additive. 370k on my sprinter so far. Oh, I use biodiesel whenever I find it (RaceTrac in Georgia seems to have up to 5% biodiesel).

    Rates and Deadhead pay.

I like percentage a lot better. Yes, you get low offers which you can refuse, but then the mother load comes that makes up for all those low paying loads. With a flat rate per mile you are stuck.

    Sprinter 2009

Every 60k in my '04 and haven't had a problem yet. 366k on the clock so far. I always have a spare with me and I can change it in 15min. I know on the later models it is a little more work...

    Comments From Dispatchers....

About 2 months ago I was in Kansas City, MO and I got offered a load to somewhere in the middle of nowhere IA with a lot of deadhead. I refused the load on the C-link. Half an hour later I got the same load opportunity for a bit more money, which was not enough, so I refused it and put the...

I can't afford it but cool van here

You are right. Just took a few weeks vacation through Europe and I saw a bunch of them: Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Fiat and Iveco, all of them 'sprinter looking' things. When will the Americans catch up with Europe??? Also, those cabover trucks in Europe are just...

Ford will Release the new Ford Transit in 2012

Even though a Ford van might be cheaper to fix, I saved over $20000 in fuel cost since I bought my sprinter compared to a Ford gasser. So, even if my engine and transmission go bad, which shouldn't any time soon, and have to replace them both, in the end my sprinter would have saved me money...

Fedx considering option of a flat rate for strt and tt

To be honest, I don't think there are any freight haulers paying $1.30 per mile loaded or empty. The question is: are they going to keep these trucks busy enough without stealing loads from the percentage trucks?
