    Fdcc-cargo van drivers

Actually I drive a 2001 Dodge van, have my own authority for 6 years now and work directly with shippers. I'll stick to my statement. Think about this, why would Fedex take their vans off of percentage where they averaged $1.20 to $1.40 per mile to a straight .85 cpm. I believe it was to be...

    Fdcc-cargo van drivers

It is real low and they are the major reason van rates are down. People like to blame Penske trucks or vanners leased to 2 or 3 carriers but the major reason is and always has been Panther.

    Cargo Van/Own Authority Start Up

Here's the number for some FREE professional advice from FMCSA. 800-832-5660. What they will tell you is if you are for hire and haul across state lines you need MC number which is operating authority. This applies to cargo vans.

    Cargo Van/Own Authority Start Up

I already did but somehow you couldn't quite grasp the concept.

I used Permits plus to help me get started. Good company and you can find them online,permitsplus.com

    Cargo Van/Own Authority Start Up

Actually you do need an operating authority. It is an authority for vehicles 10,000# and under and requires $300,000 primary liability and $5,000 cargo. The whole idea behind this is so the feds know you are insured, drop your insurance and they pull your authority. I have had mine since 2006...

Cargo Van Expediter Featured on OverdriveOnline

Really, from what I read on here I thought all Load 1 sprinters got $1.20 to $1.35 per mile.

Cargo Van Expediter Featured on OverdriveOnline

I can remember when Fedex vans were averaging $1.20 to $1.40 per mile and guys like you were hauling freight for 70 cpm to $1 per mile for companies like Express 1, Panther and Bolt. It is really funny how the tune changes when the shoe is on the other foot.

An open question to owners of unmarked van companies.

No but I do think it would be good for the industry if the carriers terminated the contracts of those with junk looking vans.

An open question to owners of unmarked van companies.

I have been expediting since 2006 with unmarked window vans and have yet to have any shippers or receivers tell me that i am a bad reflection on the expediting industry. Now seeing that when I am traveling between the shipper and receiver and no one would have any idea I was hauling an expedite...

    The 1000 Mile Load

All my customers are within a 75 mile radius of my home. They know what I charge so their is never a problem there. As far as deadhead I go back home after every delivery so it is 100% I run a 12 year old dodge van and expenses are real low, profit is about 60% of gross after all expenses are paid.

    The 1000 Mile Load

Very good post but a little off in one area. I operate as a carrier, 1 van operation with my own authority and with a fsc added in I get over $2.00 per loaded mile. I can get this by working directly with shippers and not partner carriers or glorified group load boards.

Dont what to think about this!

It really is but you will never know how great it is till you try it for yourself.

Dont what to think about this!

That is what I did in 2006, still at it and still making a lot of money. You should try it yourself before you knock it.

Dont what to think about this!

Actually if skyraider has his own authority he is a carrier.

    The Big Lie

That depends on how you operate. If you deal with brokers or partner carriers you are probably right, on the other hand if you deal directly with shippers your earnings should more than double. Given the rates Panther and Fedex pays their vans we are talking closer to triple then double.

    The Sprinter Wanna Be's

Does not matter if you refer to Load 1 as a broker or carrier, they are the carrier you have an exclusive use contract with now just as Bolt Express was the carrier you had an exclusive use contract with before. They both had your legal weight capacity on record and both knowingly and willingly...

    The Sprinter Wanna Be's

The thing I find interesting is that Load 1 has no problem knowingly overloading your vehicle and sending it down the highway. If an accident happened they would be as responsible as you but they seemingly could care less.

Sprinter + MC and DOT #

First you need insurance. Call C.I.S., their listed on here. Then you need operating authority. I used a company called permits plus. There is an operating authority for vehicles 10,000# and under and once they the feds issue it to you they will never bother you again as long as you maintain...

    No Forced Dispatch

I dont think I will be going into business with the OP because the operating authority I have had since 2006 is for vehicles 10,000# and under. Works great for my van but would not cover the truck he drives. I believe I have done fairly well coming up with the rate I charge but it is always...
