    Progressive raising rates

I've been to numerous shippers that have told me flat out they can get a Panther van for $1.24 per mile. That's what leads me to believe that their driving down rates.

    Progressive raising rates

So your saying that these carriers are booking most van loads at $1.75 to $2.00 per mile and then paying $1.00 a mile to the vanners. That would mean that the rates are not down as everyone believes they are. Makes ya think that if your runnin for a company that pays percentage and offers you a...

    Progressive raising rates

.85 all in or $1.00 all in are both cheap rates paid by budget carriers that are driving the rates down.

    Progressive raising rates

Doesn't hurt me at all. My policy renews in march and my rate only jumped $17 a month. As far as getting rid of .85 cent runners, I am all in favor of that. Nothing would help us vanners more than budget carriers like Panther, Express 1 and FedEx gettin out of van expediting. Seeing that these...

Just exactly how would this be a good thing?

    Progressive raising rates

Not that big of a deal. Just raise the rates you charge to reflect how much your insurance bill went up.

    windows on van

    Yes that's true.

    windows on van

That would be a $5000 used window van and even tho I wouldn't have that professional feeling it would be more cost effective than a $10,000 sprinter.

    windows on van

Lets see. A person can pay $5000 for a window van, have no markings on it and haul freight safely for $1 mile. Another person can buy a sprinter for $45,000, slap stickers all over it and haul freight safely for $1 a mile. Seems like a tall price to pay for that professional feeling.

    windows on van

All I run are window vans. One thing in Pa.is window vans are considered station wagons so 1 ton window vans get standard passenger car plates for $36 a year. 1 ton cargo vans are considered trucks and get truck plates for $198 a year. Also with no markings I completely blend in as an average...

CEO out at panther! What's going on now?

After reading the reviews about Panther on glassdoor.com it's easy to see why ABF dumped Clarke. Might be a few more of senior management dumped too.

CEO out at panther! What's going on now?

Probably ABF just gettin rid of dead weight.

    Anyone moving cargo vans?

Nope. Sign still says Panther. The original budget carrier that will move your freight at the lowest possible cost.

Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

And because your ONE customer sets all the rules, one being that you can have no other customers but them, your control is very limited.

Is the multi-carrier business model worth it?

If you already paying for all your insurance why not get operating authority and partner carrier with 4 or 5 of the bigger carriers. Instead of running for a carrier, be one yourself.

    Too many vans!

. Really. I have been expediting for close to 7 years now and never been away from home longer than 4 days, usually only stay out overnight.

    Percentage Based or Flat Rate?

If that's all I was payin I wouldn't advertise it either.

    Fdcc-cargo van drivers

That's my point. They are the one company that is big enough to drive the rates down. It's not the Penske trucks or multiple carrier vans killing the rates, it's Panther.

    Fdcc-cargo van drivers

I have had shippers tell me Panther has quoted them rates of $1.24 per mile for a cargo van.
