Anyone catch the Travel Channel show last night?

RE: Anyone catch the Travel Channel show last nigh I ate at the Portland Jubitz just a few days ago. You will definately not walk out of there hungry! The place used to be a dump but they fixed it up a few years ago so now its pretty nice.

    FEDEX CC New Dispatch Crap

I just have to jump in here. FECC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FDX Corporation. If some "higher ups or not-so higher ups " put on several trucks within FECC and hire on subs to drive them, that's different. Those individuals do not own the company in the sense they are representing FDX. If...

Cargo Van vs. Local Company Driver

Hey winemaker, Just a question, what kind of headaches are you referring to about big rigs. I am considering OTR trucking as a start before going expediting. I am single with no kids or anything so I know I can be out for a while regardless of if its in a van or KW T-600. I know it's...

indepedent contractor drivers have no rights! Why

RE: indepedent contractor drivers have no rights! Using another CONTRACTOR'S vehicle(as in the case of driving for an expedite owner) is not the same as a "company" vehicle. I believe the only way one could even file a workmans comp. claim in that same situation is if that IC had that kind of...

Can I make a living at this????? (Pt.2)

RichM, Sorry, but I have to disagree with you a bit. I DO understand expediting IS hard work and should be treated as a career and not a vacation. But, c'mon, it is also a way to have a cool career where you get to see much of the country and enjoy the thrill of the open road with a huge...

    E unit Expediting vs. Trucking

OK, I have been reading here and elsewhere that E units do well in expediting. My quetion is; why would someone do expediting with a TT instead of general or dedicated freight with a trucking company? Does expediting pay more or is it just personal preference? Just wondering.....

    Gonna do it.....I think.

OK, I am 90% to the point of joining the ranks of all you "great unwashed" expediters. As a courier who drives 300 miles daily, I gotta say I have been bitten REAL hard by that darn driver bug. I have seen posts that vary considerably on the the attitude of the expediter. All things considered...

    per diem food allowance

Q: Can you claim the standard $38.00/day food allowance on taxes in a B-C unit? I know that is regular practice for OTR truckers.

    Tacoma/Seattle Expediting Opportunities??

Oh, by-the-way you would need a class B CDL to drive a D unit. Also, FedEx Custom Critical, Con-Way Now and Dynamex are better for west-coast expediters (mostly because of their size). Maybe someone else who is actually an expediter from this end of the US could offer some info as well.
