    Tacoma/Seattle Expediting Opportunities??

Hi West, So far as can tell, you would best serve yourself by driving a D unit. I live in Portland. Most expediting is done east of the Mississippi but a lot of freight also comes west. You just have to be willing to be out several weeks at a time. I personally think the expediting market will...

    Expediting or Courier

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have also been thinking of getting my class B CDL and going for a D unit. I would ABSOLUTELY drive for someone else first before going out and spending money on a rig.

    Expediting or Courier

OK, here's my situation: I am an IC for a local courier here in Portland OR. I currently make 1400.00/mo gross (sometimes up to 1600.00/mo). I use about 260.00 in gas per mo. I also work a second job that I net about 800.00/mo. on. I LOVE to drive and am single. Would driving a van or C unit in...

    Getting Started West Coast

Hey blanc 1955! I'm from Portlnd also. I have found that to expedite from here, you would need to be willing to stay out 4-6 weeks at least. I also found that driving a C unit or larger would get you back up this direction more often than a van(by far). Best of luck to you! Newthead

    LETS BETTER OUR INDUSTRY

I see personalised things on trucks an indicator that the drivers enjoy life and love what they do for a living! I for one am attracted to this profession partly because of that spirit.

    Velocity Express

Yeah, they have about 30% company vehicles. They hire both IC's and company drivers.

    Velocity Express

Velocity Express is indeed a same-day courier service. Mostly, they use IC's with small trucks and cars for local area courier work. Here(in Portland, OR)they also have drivers deliver to various areas in the Northwest. I imagine it's the same in other metro areas they operate. They do not use...

    B units out West

Just a curious thought....Does anyone using a B unit ever get to take loads out west. How far and how often? I've been looking for B units on the freeways here in Portland but haven't seen any yet. (I have seen numerous box/straight trucks though)
