Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

For tax purposes, because I saw you can write off $.50/mi., so since they're paying $.46 it would be a NOL on paper—meaning I wouldn't have to pay much taxes most likely. They give you $5 per stop which I calculated in. I'm not sure of my route yet, they have me going near Detroit tonight...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

    Here's a little math, it's doesn't look real good to me. Pay Breakdown Per Week $.46/mi. x 1500 mi. + $75 ($5 each stop [3stops/day]) = $765 + 5% (fsc [varies each month]) = $803.25 – $22.75 (Occ/Acc insurance) = $780.50. Thus: $780.50 x 52 = $40,586 gross per year. $40,586 -$10,636...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

I'm not really sure how good the job is, I think it depends on getting as cheap and high a mpg vehicle as possible that still has ample cargo space. I figured I'd give it a try since I'm unemployed. Tax wise I'll have net losses since the standard mile rate is $.50 and I get $.46, so no taxes...

Looking for Advice on this Job Offer

I was offered a job with this company: MedicalDeliveryServices and wanted some advice. They pay $.46/mi. and I'll be running 300 miles a night, 5 days a week, so $690 (with only about a $50 surcharge for gas per week). The route only takes about 6 or 7 hours. I'll be hauling Hazmat...

    Hazmat GPS w/multiple routes

I talked with a Rand McNally rep and she said the Intelliroute can optimize multiple point Hazmat routes, so I think I'll go with it—I like its interface and it has free updates that are mac compatible.

    Hazmat GPS w/multiple routes

Yeah I called, but seeing as the software was not really gps I didn't ask about price. I might try one of their new gps models though, the 450 or 550. Hazmat GPS w/multiple routes

Thanks for your opinion Turtle, the job I'm considering involves up to 6 hazmat stops a night, so I think the PC Miller's multiple route optimization is a nice plus. By the way, it seems to be offered in a lap top platform like Streets & Trips as well: PC*MILER|HazMat: ALK Technologies I'm...

    Hazmat GPS w/multiple routes

Here are the most well known models: Best Truck GPS - GPS Truck Review It seems the PC Miller is the only one that can optimize a route, geez even MS Streets & Trips can do that! By the way, it gets bad reviews too :(

Where to Get Annual DOT Inspection?

Thanks for the replies. I called every Chevy dealer around here and none offer inspections. I guess I'll have to call my carrier about it.

Where to Get Annual DOT Inspection?

Hi, Is there a list as to where to get an annual DOT vehicle inspection? I'm looking for one in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. I called a few places and none offer it. I have the "ABS" light coming on, meaning my right front anti-lock brake system is screwy. Should I get this fixed first...

    Hazmat GPS w/multiple routes

    MULTIPLE Streams of INCOME

I just started trading in February of this year and really enjoy it, chart reading etc. I haven't tried currencies or commodities yet, but would like to. I'm gonna start swing trading options eventually as well as stock. I wouldn't mind getting in the dollar if it ever bounces. I have heard a...

    Hours of Work/Sleep Habits?

In one thread I heard otr expediting is about 60% night driving. How much like shift work is it? Is there a lot of sleeping during the day? Do you get used to erratic sleep patterns? Just wondering.

Another One Bites the Dust - 41 J's changing over

I haven't found a site for a nationwide YMCA membership sign up, perhaps you could post a link. For instance, here is reference to a YMCA Max membership, but it says it only covers 10 facilities: YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo I'll try to call them tomorrow and find out.

Another One Bites the Dust - 41 J's changing over

Does a membership to the YMCA allow you to enter any of them? They definitely seem to be the most widespread gym/shower solution. Unfortunately, they're almost twice as expensive as most, but do have saunas and even steam rooms at some places it seems. The next best from the map I have found...

    Satellite communications

There is no justification for taking it from behind. QC is a money maker for both o/o and carrier when you find a convenient, fast load. I think it's bad business practice to overcharge for it, kinda disrespectful. The best place to split the money is at where the shipper is paying for the load.
