Who is supposed to pay the liability and cargo insurance?

I think it's a good thing if the multi-carrier drivers get their own MC numbers and the carriers broker the load to that truck as it's own carrier. That way the drivers can file on the carriers bond if they are ripped off.

I read that Progressive doesn't write policies for large fleets. So, technically, even a carrier who has Progressive as their primary insurer is not running a large carrier operation properly. I'm not talking about the 1 guy in a van deal booking his own loads. I'm talking about a carrier that...

Also, if a carrier employs exclusive drivers that pay for their own cargo and liability insurance, isn't that technically the same thing as the multi-carrier model? The shipper or carrier they get loads from will only see the primary insurance on 1 company owned vehicle, not the other fifty or...

Hopefully if these multi-carrier companies are forced to put their drivers on their own insurance policies, they will bid higher rates to cover the additional expense and rates will rise for the drivers. I think the brokers who are pushing for this change in business model will be the ones who...

Who is supposed to pay the liability and cargo insurance?

What I wonder is how do these smaller companies trick their drivers into paying for their own cargo and liability insurance? Are they fooling their drivers, or perhaps their drivers don't know any better? I just read an old post where one company is forcing their drivers to convert from the...

Who is supposed to pay the liability and cargo insurance?

Yes they do Casper. 1 Million Liability and 100k cargo is the same whether the truck is a semi, straight truck, sprinter, or cargo van. There is generally no difference in the cost of the policy. Cargo van and sprinter freight runs too cheap to be able to pay the insurance rates and turn a...

What I meant to say is that they are still getting loads from brokers no problem.

Who is supposed to pay the liability and cargo insurance?

All I know is if I'm the one paying for cargo insurance, my carrier better never ever tell me who I can or cannot run for. Not unless they pay the 400-500 dollars a month in premiums!

Well there are two well known companies with over 50 trucks on the road who are using Grange as their insurance carrier. I guess the multi-carrier model is still alive and well.

Who is supposed to pay the liability and cargo insurance?

I see a lot of the multi-carrier companies are now requiring their drivers to either get MC Numbers, or to lease on with them exclusively. But they are still requiring their drivers to carry their own liability and cargo insurance. I don't think this is right. Isn't the carrier supposed to pay...

So, basically any carrier that has Grange as their trucking insurance are operating their business fraudulently? There are quite a few big name multi-carrier companies who have Grange as their primary insurance, and they are still moving loads.

ON CALL or ON TIME EXPEDITE? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS MICHIGAN CO?

It's just strange that the company would send out an email saying that they're expanding their brokering division right before their bond cancels. Perhaps the owner of the company can come on here and tell us what's going on with the company!

ON CALL or ON TIME EXPEDITE? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS MICHIGAN CO?

It can mean one of three things. The company had claims filed on their bond. The company couldn't pay the premiums on the bond, or the company is separating their carrier authority from their brokering authority.

ON CALL or ON TIME EXPEDITE? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS MICHIGAN CO?

It could be nothing. But it can also be a sign that a company is going through financial distress. That's all I'm saying.

ON CALL or ON TIME EXPEDITE? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS MICHIGAN CO?

All you have to do is go to www.saferweb.com and type in the company name and look under active/pending insurance. They are losing their broker bond.

ON CALL or ON TIME EXPEDITE? HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS MICHIGAN CO?

I just ran a safer web search on the company, On Call Logistics. It looks like their brokering bond is set to cancel in 28 days. I wonder why. This is not speculation, just a fact.

    Cargo Van Freight Volume

What company do you work for., Fastman? Is it a small mom and pop company? I'm with Panther and things seem to be steady for me. I think the bigger companies will always keep the vans running. Panther is one of the bigger carriers. I know the small mom and pop carriers are more affected by...
