Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

I wasn't talking about mileage restrictions on regular physical damage policies for expediters, or those who are not running under their own MC Number. I was just saying that Progressive is geared more towards the single truck owner, or a fleet owner. Progressive does not offer a lot of choices...

Emergency fund, where should you put it?

I haven't been doing this job long enough to build up an emergency fund yet. I do however have a credit card with a decent limit on it to save my bacon if I run into a problem. What is the average mount of money that you guys keep in your emergency accounts?

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Oh, and I got my insurance coverage from a company other than Progressive. My commercial insurance company covers long haul trucking companies and expediting companies. I do not have a 500 mile radius mile restriction. My sprinter is covered anywhere in the country. When you have a 500 mile...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

I could make a thousand dollars a month for insurance work. I would go out and find my own customers to contract with directly. The problem with the multi-carrier vanners is that they don't know how to sell themselves properly. You have to find direct contracts. I bet there are a lot of...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

I was recently quoted 13k from Progressive. That was with the 500 mile radius restriction. I finally got a quote for 7,500. It took my insurance agent a week to get me that quote. It seems that a lot of insurance companies are skittish about start-up companies.

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Also, Progressive does not provide primary liability to long haul trucking operations. For those of you with primary liability and cargo insurance, there is a 500 mile radius limitation on you guys. Only bobtail insurance is covered for long haul drivers. So all of the companies who run the...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

I don't see what you guys are whining about. The going rate for 1 million liability and 100k cargo insurance is 7,500 dollars per year. It doesn't matter if it is a car, truck, cargo van, straight stuck, or tractor trailer. The risk exposure is still the same. When Progressive got into the...

Sprinter and Cargo Van Loads Please help me

Are there really sprinter drivers actually grossing 15,000 dollars a month? If so, I'd love to see the proof. I don't know what dispatch company you've been talking to, but I doubt there are drivers making that much money in sprinter vans. That is unless you're leased on to, Load One. I'm...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

I don't run my sprinter on percentage of the load. I get 90 cents per mile no mater what. I won't run my truck for less than 90 cents per mile.

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Why not just raise your rates that you charge your carrier/customer to accommodate the higher cost of insurance? I don't see how people are still running for 85 cents per mile in today's market. I'm getting 90 cents per mile from Express Family.

Thanks, Turtle. I bet it's nice to bounce back and forth between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I love northern California!

    Freight in California?

Hi, I'm new to the wonderful world of expediting and I'm wondering if there is any good freight into and out of California? I plan on spending a lot of time on the road, but I'd like to go home a couple of times a year. Is California a good place to get sprinter loads? Will I have to deadhead...
