    Fuel surcharge cargo vans

There is still money to be made on cargo van loads. You just have to have the right contacts like CH Robinson and another 3PL called Menlo. You have to get your freight from other sources than the cheap NLM loads. But even on NLM, you can regularly get over 1.10 per miles on a lot of their...

    Fuel surcharge cargo vans

That's very low on top of the 70 cents they pay you guys for line haul. Are they still paying only 70 cents per mile on NLM loads? Even at 80 cents per mile, you're still getting shafted. I never run my van for anything under a dollar per mile, and even that is a cheap rate these days. Look at...

    Fuel surcharge cargo vans

I still shake my head at how cheap some of you guys run for. I also knew that as soon as fuel prices went down the carriers would try and cut the rates down to win more bids. They can try and cut the rates five more cents per mile because fuel is cheaper. It's stupid. I know for a fact that if...

I heard that Walmart parking lots are paved with pennies. You better get out there and claim all that loose change before OVM strolls through!

Fred Mertz would have made a fine, fine fleet owner. He would never go for that cheap arse flat rate bullsheet. lol

    Looking for a better carrier

What really concerns me about this recruiter is his reluctance to divulge the name of the carrier he is recruiting for. He doesn't even have that information on his profile. I would not give my email address out to a supposed recruiter who is purposely withholding the name of the carrier he is...

    Looking for a better carrier

Some drivers are looking for greener pastures. I'm looking for the green mile. Any mile that makes me green is the mile I'll run in my cargo van machine. You know what I mean?

    Medical card 2nd opinions

I can see where heart conditions can be a problem, or even type 1 diabetes. Any ways, that does not matter as most drivers who have diabetes don't even know they have it. When Panther gave me the DOT physical, they tested my urine for sugar and protein spillage. The problem with that test is...

Come on now! You got out of Laredo in 24 hours! You have to have a break sometime. Let some of the rest of us make that money. lol. I always get loads out of the south, but me and Laredo have never seen eye to eye! Amazing how that dynamic works. It's like certain geographical areas of the...

    Medical card 2nd opinions

It's not an insurance thing either. There are many drivers who have their own cargo and liability insurance and they do not have a commercial license or a current DOT physical. It's something the carriers are arbitrarily imposing on their cargo van drivers.

    Medical card 2nd opinions

It is a carrier thing, but why do carriers like Panther force their cargo van drivers to get a commercial license? Why do carriers like Panther, E-1, Load One, and FedEx force their cargo van drivers to get DOT physicals when it is not a DOT requirement? You cnnot drive cargo van for the bigger...

    What are my options?

There are companies that will hire you to drive a van without a medical card. You just need to get your own van, cargo insurance, and find a smaller outfit to drive for. You can also try and get a second opinion from another doctor. If your blood pressure is under control, and your rapid heart...

All those hotdogs clog the arteries, OVM. I agree with you on the commercial license. What is the point of requiring cargo van drivers to have medical cards when it's not the law? Then the owners of the companies that super-impose rules on their drivers that don't exist complain when the...

As I walk through the Wal-Mart parking lot they glimmer and they shine. Soon all those lost nickels and dimes will be mine. I will use them to buy hotdogs to split them in half as I dine. Oh how these ballparks taste so divine!

There is a TA in Jessup right across the street from the Giant Foods warehouse. It's kind of a sketchy area. Last time I was parked there I witnessed two white dudes fighting over a white girl. It was at midnight! They were scrapping in the street and then the one time rolled up. There are a lot...
