    S/T drivers needed

It is challenging in small companies to balance the personal relationship and compliance. And it seems impossible when you are talking 3,000+ power units. But Covenant does it better than most at this size.

    We need both.

    S/T drivers needed

Covenant will be handling all the compliance side of the business and we are managing the freight and driver relationships. Even when a driver has to deal with safety or logs the driver manager on our side will be involved. We will use their orientation but we will have our people present at...

    S/T drivers needed

Yes, this is the Chattanooga Covenant (and Nashville Star) that I am talking about. And it is not going to be run like the other carriers that are trying to play in this area. Stand-alone dispatch with people that have expedite experience, direct freight and personal attention. As the company...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

Blizzard, Thanks for you messages and posts. Understood and you seem to be a standup guy. Regarding the business model - What I have said is the model is not bad it is many of the people that are implementing it. Lack of capital, lack of ethics, lack if accounts - guess you could say they are...

Amen, doesn't matter if you are a big, small, skinny or fat carrier. The issue is who's freight are you hauling.

Wasn't try to offend you. I guess I am just an optimistic guy and believe that there is still good out there. And good honest people running carriers that don't play games if they are paying you on percentage, if they say "no forced dispatch" they mean it and don't really have a coerced...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

Sugarplum, Just about every business is going to have minimum standards. This one is no different. Unless there is something keeping you from running for a reputable carrier (s), I would be looking long and hard at a change. John, you need to promote that you are percentage. I would...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

My contingent coverage would not cover it if we brokered a load knowing that someone didn't have coverage. And in the multi model the freight is not brokered. So not only would my carrier coverage not apply because the unit in question is not covered but contingent doesn't even come into play...

Should you run for Multiple Carriers? Read this first!

When I first learned of this model, as a business person that is fascinated with different business models, I talked to a lot of people that have this model. It is stunning the number that do not have anything in place to make sure that the insurance is in place outside of being on the...

CH Robinson The Good, The Bad, The Ugly?

I don't see a lot of duplicates on the board but do get a few calls from those double brokering off others stuff. But I'm of the same mind set. Give them our bid or a bit higher.

    Carrier cutting rates

Let's see if I have got this straight - you are running as many miles as you can at a higher rate but getting paid less you are going to be able to run as many miles as you can. Seems to me you are getting the same miles but for less money. Team ST should be getting all the miles they can...

Isn't that an early warning sign of a sociopath? Turning breakfast food into weapons?

Guess you do never stop learning. I thought Sylectus had tried to sell me just about everything they had. All we have ever seen is the subscriptions/services they offer. But then I have no interest in software so guess my account manager did her job and understands my needs.

    Carrier cutting rates

The profits are on the brokering side. Wouldn't be surprised to learn they are increasing head count on that side of the business at the same time.

    Progressive raising rates

Tomtom, most of the issues I have seen around this have come from small carriers looking for a foot hold. I never have to worry when I am working with an exclusive carrier when booking van freight that they are under insured. But we better know the carrier real well before we trust that they...

Expedite With Tractor and Pup Trailer?

Do the math, cost of ownership like described is only pennies a mile less than 53'. But the rate per mile would be significantly less. It may be an alternative if you specialized in local or city delivery but as general OTR option don't see it working.

    Panther rates???

Funny thing is Panther is advertising $1.00+ for vans but I am getting calls from drivers saying they rarely see that.
