Byrd clearly needs to go back to gun training because he was aiming for her head/neck instead of a chest shot....or he is going for a true head kill....
My pistol training is to shoot at the chest which is a big target.....
The have been several inaccurate reports about Babbitt being shot in the neck, but the DC medical examiner's report stated that she died from a wound in the "anterior left shoulder". Regardless, there are several things about this shooting that indicate negligence on the part of officer Byrd.

1. Babbitt was in a defenseless, vulnerable position trying to climb through a window. Not a threat.
2. There's no way to know where he was aiming, or even if he was aiming at center mass as commonly taught in law enforcement and the military.
3. It might have been a negligent discharge. Why would he only fire one shot if he felt he and his fellow officers were under lethal threat by a mob? Cops are trained to fire multiple shots under life threatening circumstances.

This guy is obviously unfit to serve in any law enforcement capacity, especially one that requires carrying a firearm. Don't be surprised if he quietly retires when a healthy civil suit is filed against him, the Capitol Police and the District of Columbia.

He shot in the direction of protesters and officers that very easily could have been hit by the bullet. Reckless…

Apparently, the Capitol Police, the Metropolitan Police of DC, the FBI, and the Department of Justice were unable to find these "things" which you seem to think indicate negligence.

Perhaps you should offer your services ?

1. Babbitt was in a defenseless, vulnerable position trying to climb through a window. Not a threat.

She was a threat ... because she had a violent, riotous mob of insurrectionists and domestic terrorists at her back.

Had she successfully breached and entered the Speaker's Lobby, it would have likely spurred the 60 - 80 violent insurrectionist rioters behind her to enter and given them the opportunity to commit Lord knows what type of violence and mayhem against our elected officials.

Of course, if someone is rooting for that type of thing, they may not see that as a problem.

2. There's no way to know where he was aiming, or even if he was aiming at center mass as commonly taught in law enforcement and the military.

Well, that's not entirely accurate ... given where the bullet landed.

:tearsofjoy:

3. It might have been a negligent discharge. Why would he only fire one shot if he felt he and his fellow officers were under lethal threat by a mob?

She fell backwards onto the floor and stopped advancing with a single shot.

The riotous mob made no further attempts to breach and enter through the doors.

Which indicates that in what was no doubt a highly stressful situation, he had the awareness, presence of mind and necessary self-control to accurately observe what was then occurring in his immediate environment and act appropriately.

Cops are trained to fire multiple shots under life threatening circumstances.

That he only fired one shot would seem to be exculpatory - since it potentially indicates that he showed restraint.

This guy is obviously unfit to serve in any law enforcement capacity, especially one that requires carrying a firearm.

That's not at all obvious.

Furthermore, he was apparently found by the investigating authorities in both his own and other agencies to have not acted in an unreasonable manner.

And he continues to actively serve to this day if I am not mistaken.

Don't be surprised if he quietly retires when a healthy civil suit is filed against him, the Capitol Police and the District of Columbia.

Here's a link to a GoFundMe fundraiser for Lt. Byrd ... for those that might wish to support this American Patriot and Hero:

Incorrect on multiple counts.

1. The officers on the outside of the Speaker's Lobby doors had withdrawn down the stairs, in preparation for the CERT team to enter and clear the area. It appears that there may have been one congressional/Capitol staffer following the officers down the stairs.

2. The CERT team was on a landing below and did not advance up the stairs until after she had been shot.

3. There was a wall to Babbitt's right side, placing her between it and Lt. Byrd, and she was at the front of the crowd in that particular area ... so there couldn't have been anyone in the direct line-of-fire to her right, although there were certainly people close to her.

4. You again misspelled "violent insurrectionist mob" and "domestic terrorists" above.

Yeah ... you got suckered by a Jim Hoft/GP headline again.

:tearsofjoy:

Your video is very similar to one the one I just watched yesterday ... only much poorer quality and less clear ... and the one I watched was taken by someone who on the same floor level as Babbitt was, and the camera pans to the right and points down into the stairwell, showing that the CERT team is down the steps at a lower level.

It's linked below and it isn't pixelated.

It also shows (at 0:10 in) how high the upper part of Babbitt's body was to be able to climb through the window to get into the Speaker's Lobby.

At the point she was shot, the part of her body where the entry wound was is probably 2' above the heads of the people who were standing at the same floor level as she had been, before she climbed up into the window.

Warning: The video below contains Foul Language and Graphic Footage of Babbitt who is shown still alive ... but bleeding out on the floor.

So don't click to go to YouTube to watch it if you don't want to see/hear any of the above:

RAW: Capitol Hill Shooting Video

As for the "expert analysis" provided by Judicial Watch's "B.A.-in-English" holder Tom Fitton in your video, that boy needs to lay off the 'roids ...

Well, well ... lookee here ... apparently there was an insurrection:

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes charged with seditious conspiracy in Jan. 6 Capitol riot

Along with 10 others.

DOJ Press Release:

Leader of Oath Keepers and 10 Other Individuals Indicted in Federal Court for Seditious Conspiracy and Other Offenses Related to U.S. Capitol Breach

The seditious conspiracy indictment alleges that, following the Nov. 3, 2020, presidential election, Rhodes conspired with his co-defendants and others to oppose by force the execution of the laws governing the transfer of presidential power by Jan. 20, 2021. Beginning in late December 2020, via encrypted and private communications applications, Rhodes and various co-conspirators coordinated and planned to travel to Washington, D.C., on or around Jan. 6, 2021, the date of the certification of the electoral college vote, the indictment alleges. Rhodes and several co-conspirators made plans to bring weapons to the area to support the operation. The co-conspirators then traveled across the country to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in early January 2021.

According to the seditious conspiracy indictment, the defendants conspired through a variety of manners and means, including: organizing into teams that were prepared and willing to use force and to transport firearms and ammunition into Washington, D.C.; recruiting members and affiliates to participate in the conspiracy; organizing trainings to teach and learn paramilitary combat tactics; bringing and contributing paramilitary gear, weapons and supplies – including knives, batons, camouflaged combat uniforms, tactical vests with plates, helmets, eye protection and radio equipment – to the Capitol grounds; breaching and attempting to take control of the Capitol grounds and building on Jan. 6, 2021, in an effort to prevent, hinder and delay the certification of the electoral college vote; using force against law enforcement officers while inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021; continuing to plot, after Jan. 6, 2021, to oppose by force the lawful transfer of presidential power, and using websites, social media, text messaging and encrypted messaging applications to communicate with co-conspirators and others.

Marcy Wheeler's take today on the new charges, including seditious conspiracy, some questions that this raises, and where things may be headed:

THE FIRST SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY CHARGES DROP

The thing that I saw that was the biggest eye-opener was that these individuals, some of which were facing charges which potentially carried 20 year max sentences are now facing charges which potentially carry around 80 years max.

He sounds like he believes he is innocent of the charges.

Of course he does.

Probably believes he's a "patriot" as well, along with a few other things ...

:tearsofjoy:

Articulate…

BTW - Did he have anything articulate to say about COVID ?

Asking for a friend ... who's wondering why this particular post of yours was in the COVID thread ...

:tearsofjoy:

(Update: Looks like it got moved to the correct thread ... ;))

Saw a video of AG Nessel speaking on this matter and she broke some news:

Apparently, there were GOP'ers from seven different states involved in this fraudulent activity ... not just five.

Evidently, it appears this was coordinated amongst them as all the documents submitted used the same fonts, etc.

Which makes it look like it was part of a broader conspiracy.

Also of interest was the MI State Attorney General saying they have referred the matter to their district U.S. Attorney's office, deeming the matter to be a case worthy of criminal investigation by the feds, because it appears to be a coordinated effort involving perpetrators in several states. She said some of the people who were named in the fraudulent documents may face prison time and will likely flip to reveal what they know about this apparent "conspiracy to overthrow the United States government" (state AG's words).

Yes ... and even if the Feds chose not to pursue it, AG Nessel could still pursue charges under MI state law.

If it ended up that it were the case that the Feds chose not to pursue, I would hope she would.

It's well past time to put an end to these sorts of shenanigans.

Some are apparently afraid of a person in the media asking uncomfortable questions about stuff.

In Fish Sticks case, given that his "I am just asking questions" further cements him into the Faux News Clown Car, I seriously doubt that very few - if any at all - are "afraid".

She said it does not constitute double jeopardy for the state and feds to simultaneously prosecute these apparent crimes. And she said the the state may still do that even as the matter has been referred to the feds. The U.S. House Jan 6 committee is also known to be looking at this. That committee does not prosecute but it may unearth additional info that may be referred to federal prosecutors.
