Typical, exactly! Typical liberal ploy. Taking something out of context to try and use against President Trump. Yang wanted universal basic income for every adult at $1000/month, just because. Trump is providing relief for Americans who are out of work or maybe out of work due the Coronavirus. I don't believe every American needs this money and Trump's plan is ripe for misuse.

Andrew Yang: "I'm pleased to see the White House adopt our vision of putting money directly into the hands of hard-working Americans. It's unfortunate to see this development take place under the current circumstances, but this is exactly what Universal Basic Income is designed to do -- offer a way to ensure that Americans can make ends meet when they need it most,"

Read up on what the Chairwoman of the House Finance Committee wants to do. Among many other things, she wants $2000 for every adult, and $1000 for every child, until the pandemic ends (which could literally mean forever).

I threw a little fodder out there to see who's head would explode. :pokepoke:

As the deficit is about to balloon, we should all look at how this money is going to be spent.
Need to see details of what exactly was passed yesterday.

I got a question .....

During Trump's press conference yesterday he boldly proclaimed that he's invoking the Defense Production Act. To ramp up production of medical supplies. Later in the day, he tweets this ...

I only signed the Defense Production Act to combat the Chinese Virus should we need to invoke it in a worst case scenario in the future. Hopefully there will be no need, but we are all in this TOGETHER!

Which is it? Are we ramping up production of needed supplies or not?

Whenever we get through this, we will look back and wonder why we didn’t use this as an opportunity to attack income inequality. Let’s not make that mistake. This is our chance to do the right thing and reward EVERYONE who contributes to the turnaround in the economy.

@mcuban It is very rare that i read something that i totally and unequivocally agree with. Below is one of those reads. I am so tired of the rich profiting from every cataclysm. This is the time to reset the system in favor of the working person. Right Now!

That’s not to say some won’t take risks and make more in returns than others. They will. That’s ok. But WHERE THE GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN ALL OR MOST OF THE RISK OUT OF THE EQUATION, NO EXEC SHOULD BE GIVEN FAVOR OVER ANY OTHER EMPLOYEE. NO EXCEPTIONS

I didn't say that I don't want the cash. I believe that not every American needs it. As of right now I don't need it, but if offered I will certainly take it. We built a new house a year ago and took out a 30 year mortgage that we planned to pay off sometime this summer. That's on hold and we are looking into refinancing at a lower rate.

We don't live paycheck to paycheck. It would be nice if this disaster teaches Americans to put some money aside for such emergencies.

Agreed, not every American needs it .... and if they do, it's not going to be nearly enough.
Fortunately me and my immediate family don't work in any of the industries that are directly impacted. Let's see how this plays out.
Should be a good time to refinance. My Sprinter has 775K mi on it and for the past yr I've been seriously looking at different options. Might be a good time to make a vehicle purchase, we'll see ...
We're savers, so I agree with Americans being taught to be more financially responsible.

If this lasts a few more months, who is going to tell the Dems there won't be an election this November? They'll lose their ship.

Nice enough if you make enough to do so.

The hashtag #PresidentCuomo was trending on social media Saturday as the party’s voters continued to mull who should take on President Trump in November. Thanks to his daily briefings and his Who's your daddy? demeanor, Governor Cuomo is the shiniest bright object to catch the eye of Democrats since Michael Avanati. Bernie who? Joe who?

I can see Biden bowing out due to a health issue just before the convention or even shortly after he is nominated. This would open the door for someone like Cuomo to step in.

Biden is apparently going to start a daily press briefing about the virus. Wonder if he will be asked if he is still against the travel ban.
