I was showing my discomfort with someone who seemed to be the very embodiment of entitled, and the only thing money has to do with it is that Ann Romney has alwys been protected by it, to the point that she is outraged that 'we the people' have the right to question her husband's finances, just because he's running for President.
You seem to believe the Republican smokescreen about 'class envy', so how do you explain the absence of disdain for billionaires in the fields of dotcom, sports, and entertainment?
Bill Gates could buy Romney from his pocket change, and I have tremendous respect for Gates, and ditto for Denzel Washington, too. It's not about how much money they have, it's about how they got it, and what they do with it.
I am thankful that the founding fathers managed to put their selfish interests aside to create the government they did, because we don't seem to have any political leaders today who could do it.

The Romney's on numerous times have said they will release two years of tax returns. They aren't required to release any more but are continually asked the same question: "Why won't you release more tax returns". So Ann Romney gave her honest answer and you think it is aristicratic snobbery. She was speaking about political hacks that would take any information released ,twist, demogogue and lie about it so people would become distracted from this lousy economy that Obama has presided over. Regarding Romney's finances, he has earned it all legally, paid all his taxes, and has given a lot to charity , and given a lot of charitable contributions to his Mormon church. So what's the problem with that?

Besides that, Ann is not running for ANYTHING. I don't give a flip about her attitude. I would care about Mrs. Obama's if it were not all hate for the Country.

Turtle: seriously? Michelle Obama displays class snobbery by wearing expensive clothes?
I didn't say that. My comment was a comment on the media, not Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama's other antics and words express class snobbery all on their own. The fact that other first ladies (and other presidents of both parties) have done it doesn't make it any less snobby or in your face to the American people. Clearly, part of "the gig" is to flaunt privilege, because it's what they all do.

I didn't see any criticism of Ann Romney's clothing, and would call it frivolous and irrelevant if I had.
Ann Romney slammed for $990 Shirt, Michelle Obama praised for $6,800 jacket | Fox News

The words you quoted are what I referred to - the woman just drips outrage and contempt of "you people", and I find it quite scary, really.
The "you people" statement wasn't in and of itself in the context of contempt and condescension of the American people as much as it was for the press in general, a la poor, poor, pitiful me Sarah Palin. If you watch the GMA video in context, it's not as bad as has been reported. However, her demeanor and the way she phrases things paints a classic picture of Marie Antoinette, without question.

I can't imagine Ann Romney digging a vegetable garden to promote healthy eating, and I don't think it was entirely about the 'image' - I think Michelle Obama believes in doing what you can to be healthier, and I like that.
I like it, too, but promoting healthy eating doesn't in and of itself give one a pass on elitism.

On a personal note, I thank you for bumping up the font size by one. Makes the text much easier to read.

Muttly: Michelle Obama has made eating healthy and childhood obesity her particular areas of concern, so how would it look if she ignored a young person's mention of eating a pretty unhealthy breakfast on tv?
She actually reminded me of Moms everywhere, cause I've heard a million of them say the same things - because they CARE, not because they don't.

Don't always live up to it, but I applaud the effort.

You used the word frivolous too.:D I used the word frivolous to describe your opinion of Ann Romney as an aristicratic snob because it isn't based on anything substantive. Here is an example of the faux outrage about Ann Romney's wardrobe. It is merely to score political points against her on MSNBC.

I'll defer to Turtle's comment above on this one.

With MS it might be difficult to dig a garden. As to healthy eating, assuming for a minute that the Romney's follow their religious beliefs, I bet they could teach the Obama's about healthy eating. I bet there is a FAR greater chance that Mrs. Obama drank/drinks or did or does drugs than Mrs. Romney. Same goes for Barry, we KNOW he smokes, drinks and did/or does drugs.

How would it look? Considering Douglas said she "splurged" on an Egg McMuffin, implicitly meaning it was something she rarely did, it would look like she had the good manners not to upstage another seated guest on a talk show.

My thoughts too about the garden issue. Whether having MS or breast cancer might prohibit someone from digging a garden, what difference does it make if someone wants to have one or not? Michelle Obama's garden is probably contrived because she is the first lady. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe she never had a garden before either and it doesn't matter either way if she did.

Everything the Obama's do is for show or votes. There is nothing genuine about them. Besides, kids being overweight is more of a function of lazy rather than poor eating habits. When I was young I ate BAD. Someday's I ate two Whopper's, a couple of shakes and several orders of fries, at a single meal. I had TROUBLE keeping my weight UP! I went in the Army weighing only 125LBS at almost 5'!!". Man I surely miss those days! I could eat ANYTHING in ANY amount and never gain an ounce.

Enlighten me, please, because I've seen not a hint of it from Michelle Obama [clothing doesn't count!] other than taking advantage of the perks enjoyed by every other First Lady.
So what sounds familiar to you?

Wish I was smart enough to hang in this conversation. All I know is Michelle is smokin' hot no matter how much here clothes cost.

Mo is very much a snob begging with her proclaiming for the first time she is proud of our country. She seems to very much want to rub elbows with the elite, she uses our money to take lavish vacations. My guess is the only times she has been in that garden is when a camera is present. Telling others how to eat and using her position to help achieve that shows she believes she is the one to tell us simple folks how to live.

She is every bit a snob.

Can't respond to the quote, I never heard that one, but the rest is just exactly what every First Lady has done. [In fact, the first one to introduce high fashion and truly expensive clothing as part of the image was probably the best loved: Jackie Kennedy.] And no one outspent Nancy Reagan, but she didn't get pilloried for it. Most have chosen an area of interest to promote, beginning with Lady Bird Johnson [Beautify America] to Laura Bush [literacy] and no one saw it as telling us simple folks how to live. Maybe you're right about her being in the garden just for the cameras, but I don't think so - she is pretty knowledgeable about it.

She is every bit a snob.

Then so am I, cause I'd enjoy rubbing elbows with some 'elites' if I had the chance, too - just for a change of pace, you know, not as a regular thing, cause I hate haute couture and cuisine, lol.

Yeah, they are all pretty much the same. Not elected and no real official value. They are private citizens, employed by no one to do anything. She SHOULD focus on raising her children. I bet that Mrs. Obama is the ONLY one who would the force of law to make us do as she sees fit. I know her scum bag husband feels that way and birds of a feather, flock together.

Why do people want to 'rub elbows' with anyone? I prefer to have friends. We do things together. No elitism, just shared interests. Much better than someone's wife, or husband, that I don't know, nor care too.

I'd like to see pictures of Michelle Obama doing ANYTHING in a garden other then just standing in it.

Just another Obama family staged photo op. They do NOTHING without a camera around. They are all about the show, no substance.
