I have a 2000 watt inverter, which will be approx 15' away from the batteries. What gauge wire should I use? I was thinking 2 or 0.
I'd be using 2/0 at a minimum (what I'm using on about 5' run, same size inverter) .... with that much length 4/0 would be better.I have a 2000 watt inverter, which will be approx 15' away from the batteries. What gauge wire should I use? I was thinking 2 or 0.
Fifteen feet .... not inches ....Turtle not required on that one. Go with the 0 and 15" is great!

Yup, it is .... about as big a round as my thumb.2/0 is so friggen huge.
You may be able to get by with less ....They use 4 with a 1500 watt usually. I'm only going to use this for a 1000 watt microwave and charging my puter.
Yeah, at four feet. They use 4 with a 1500 watt usually.
Given the distance involved, I would concur.I'm thinking 4/0

Heheheh .... yeah ....Depending on the wattage, but when he goes to pay for the 12' of 4/0 cable he'll probably pass out.
Yup ....You need a cable that not only carrys the current with less restriction but one that doesn't create heat.
