Buying Cargo Van

I'm looking to buy a cargo van and want to lease it to a company. My question is how much would the van make per week/month?

Looking to have a contract driver to drive it with driver getting 60% plus 100% FSC and I getting 40%.

Hoping it earns around $3,000.00 -$5,000.00 per month. Is that possible,if not what's the normal income?

Thanks

Now would that be .... you are hoping to get $3000+ per month? cos that just isn't going to happen :p:D

Its all swings and roundabouts ... some weeks are good, some weeks are not.
Some weeks the truck pays for itself, some weeks you are paying for the truck.

You're better off opting for a Straight Truck if you're going to hire a driver on. A cargo van isn't going to leave you much of a revenue base to share with a driver, especially given how slow the market is.

while a ST is a better option to make the type of money you want, a solo in a ST, if he is a good hard driver might as well be in a van (as a o/o)...you need a team in a ST to make the money you want...and then they will need to be with the right carrier, stay busy and run strong....

Not enough money to hire a driver in a van, on a good month which has been Not the last 2 months I've grossed 4 grand max, the last 2 months have been half that. Thankfully my van is paid for.

Well mainly i'm looking to make extra few bucks so I figure a van would be a start. If it makes me $1,500.00 min a month,i'm good with that. Also I don't have funds to buy a ST truck at this time, wish I did but I figure a van would be a start.

I don't think you will see $1500 a month especially with the state the market is in.

The expediting industry is full of current and former van drivers who went out and bought a van and became an expediter because they think it's easy money. Almost all of them are wrong.

The industry is also full of current and former owners with cargo vans who think each van they have is a little cash cow, out there in the field doing its thing and making the owner some extra cash. Almost all of them are wrong.

If it's a straight you want to get into, you might want to consider driving for a fleet owner for a bit to get a better feel for the business.

As far as a cargo van, you'd be much better off doing so as a solo as opposed to hiring someone on to drive it.

if you are strictly looking for an extra "income stream", buy someyhing that will hauler a minimum of 3 48x48x48 skids and 2500-3500 lbs....then if you are leased to the right company, you should make a extra $1000 a month with driver that wants to work hard and stay on the road...other than that, don't do it...

Oh and keep in mind, alot of companies will NOT take on a "cube van"...talk to alot of carriers before you buy anything...

You can make 1000 per month. After expenses.Do not dream to make 3000.
