Does any one else find it funny that someone would impart information here on this forum, and then immediately order everyone to not trust the information to be found on this forum?

Imagine a world where there are no hypothetical situations.

I wondered about that too. Guess it typifies the behaviour pattern of a liberal drive-by poster who pops in to gloat and to heckle those he percieves to be troglodites.

Has anybody else ever tried doing that? Is it that much fun to impose yourself into a forum where your viewpoints are diametrically opposed to the vast majority of participants, then proceed to berate and ridicule them and their standard bearers? How many conservatives intrude on liberal web groups, or OSU fans into MI fan sites just to lob verbal grenades?

It might be different if meaningful discussion was engaged, offering points and counterpoints with opinions based on facts and reason. Instead, we get juvenile name-calling and sassy put-downs, just verbal pokes in the eye as JJ said earlier. I guess that's why the Ignore function was included by the website designeers.

You've got to be kidding me? Intelligent conversation in here? Never seen it...

I see all the Conservs posting blogs and mis-information and having a feeding frenzy on less then credible information, propped up with back slapping and cheers when someone posts an opposing view...Then of course the "Koolaid" cracks and flood of even more unsupported info....Then a history lesson on what happened in the past...pretty much just a bunch of bull.

And I plead guilty on all counts...I am not an exception...

Cool, drive by poster then I go hide out with my lib friends. In fact, the office I work in is packed with NOT LIKE MINDED righties. I've been here 24 years and the sniping is continuous. I've pretty much given up on them, but we all work together and have alot of fun. They are NOT blowhards and respect my opinion as I do theirs. They are also friends who do not make veiled threats to over through the government, as entertaining as it is on this forum.

Greg, you know jack s^%&^ about Marfan's (not unlike most topics) and use your swift Internet guidance system to compensate for your lack of substance and depth of knowledge about most anything beyond your imagined brilliance.

Echo cardiograms have the ability to distinguish an aortic aneurysm from a naturally occurring elasticised aortic wall. Ritter had been complaining of sever back pains for several days which is indicative of a tear beginning in the wall of the anurized aortic root.Had he acted on those pains ,and gotten an echo , and then an emergency graft he would be alive today. His case is one of the fundamental medical case's that was used to make echo's for high risk patients (both Marfan's and non Marfan's) an accepted practice that should have been and is now covered as routine preventative medicine for pre Marfan's screening and bad back pains.

I'm afraid it's this kind of yellow journalism that keeps me from engaging in spirited discourse on a regular basis. Toss me off if me and my 800 + remarks label me a drive by poster. Then you can all rant and rave unimpeded by an opposing view. I mean what I say Ark,consider the source around here before you take it too the bank or the DAV office.

Greg, both my brother and my daughter are surviving with Marfans, but my daughter will not be able to have children as her connective tissue is not strong enough. No grand kids, a drag. It is recommended my son not have children either as the gene is present in 3 generations at this point.

Yeah .... now that there is pretty funny .... he has 118 more posts than you .... but he's a drive-by poster ?

ROTFLMAO ....... dunno ...... maybe the post counter is wrong (entirely possible)

Has anybody else ever tried doing that?
I wouldn't know .....

Is it that much fun to impose yourself into a forum where your viewpoints are diametrically opposed to the vast majority of participants, then proceed to berate and ridicule them and their standard bearers?
I really have no idea .... but apparently berating others' standard bearers is a whole lot of fun, judging from a significant amount of activity that occurs in here which is exactly that ....

How many conservatives intrude on liberal web groups, or OSU fans into MI fan sites just to lob verbal grenades?
Again, this is something which I don't have much familiarity with, but I suspect that it is probably not entirely rare ....

It might be different if meaningful discussion was engaged, offering points and counterpoints with opinions based on facts and reason.
Good grief ..... you do realize that you posted this in the Soapbox don't you ?

Meaningful discussion ?

Instead, we get juvenile name-calling and sassy put-downs,
You mean like ......... hmmm, uhhhh ........... "Pantload-in-Chief" .... and other similarly sassy monikers ?

To quote the Forum heading for a similar type forum from another website that I frequent from time to time:

"Danger Zone: Don't come in here if you can't take it. I warned you."

..... civility, civility .... wherefore art thou ?

I just knew it would only be a matter of time before before you flittered in with your typical sentence-by-sentence snarky responses designed to be cutesy little put-downs which are mostly inane and pointless. What exactly is your point with the above drivel other than a lame attempt at trying to be an online Jon Stewart? You obviously haven't read past posts from your liberal comrade that offered nothing but seething hatred for Bush, Republicans and conservatives in general. It's one thing to strongly disagree with another person's political opinions or positions, but that doesn't have to come hand-in-glove with personal hatred - that would be uncivilized.
There's also the general disrespect for the opinions and beliefs of most everyone that participates in this forum: try reading this comment from Turtle - slowly if need be:

"Does any one else find it funny that someone would impart information here on this forum, and then immediately order everyone to not trust the information to be found on this forum?"

The above was in response to:
"DO NOT RELY ON INFORMATION IN THIS FORUM. IT IS CORRUPT."
Does it occur to you that some might take offense to an individual who leaves a comment which implies that the regular participants of this forum are either liars or just ignorant peasants? That the information posted on this forum is bogus and only he is enlightened enough to offer the gospel is the height of arrogance - but then again, you seem to identify with that position.

Regarding a couple other comments:
  • I guess it's above your head to compare posting frequency over the past 12-15 months.
  • Please show us where I've used the term "Pantload in Chief"
  • Meaningful discussions - it might just be that some people that enter the forum enjoy the exchange of ideas, opinions, information and consider the time spent to be meaningful. If you don't that's your choice.
  • "Don't come in here if you can't take it". I assume that's directed at the liberal visitors who come into the forum, drop a few insults, and are then are offended when they get a less-than-amiable response.
  • FYI: ci·vil·i·ty (sĭ-vĭl'ĭ-tē)
    n. pl. ci·vil·i·ties
    Courteous behavior; politeness

God Pilgrim, I have no vendetta.Take any unpleasant feelings you may harbor for our fine young President and nuke them by a factor 10 and you maybe approaching my opinion of W.I never once used the word hatred, lire sometimes, less then brilliant, not a leader and on and on.I never suggested that violence might be the final solution ( just between friends you understand ).

I don't have as much time as I used to and yes the passing of this legislation seemed a appropriate time to stop by. I'm curious, what in the world did you find so offensive about the first post ? Seems pretty much just one mans opinion about our President and not a direct attack on anyone other then those that espouse violence. Seems a fair proposition that for some of us the talk about the anti Christ and the moronic looking inbreds from Ohio planning an even more moronic ambush would cause you to maybe have a deeper understanding of the personality types promoting this hot air (even among friends, know what I mean? ) I was just pointing that out. Ark can make his own choices, he's a bright man. Off line advice is a much better idea then on line opinion driven advice for all our consumption.

Just for the record, the ""DO NOT RELY ON INFORMATION IN THIS FORUM. IT IS CORRUPT," comment reminded me of another post I read here in EO, where someone essentially ordered another person to stop berating people, and did so by berating them.It just cracks me up when someone is so transparently contradictory and hypocritical, because it usually comes off as, "Do as I say, not as I do."

It's like slapping someone while you are telling them never to hit another person. It's like screaming at someone, "Don't scream at people!"

It's like the Catholic church denouncing pedophilia.

The truth is, I'm a pathological liar. No, really.

That may be the one true fact here...[just kidding] ;)

Like many, I'm pretty conflicted about this healthcare issue.
I don't believe that government "of, by, and for the people" is socialism, but damifino where the line is drawn.
I do know that the Fed's laws to ensure that I [as a commercial driver] get enough rest have left me exhausted, and if they do as well with ensuring healthcare, I already feel sick.

Turtle... does Cal come across as a wannabe elitist to you too? For some reason, he thinks he won't be hit by all this garbage going on, cause he's better than that. Somehow, Obama will come down from his bulletproof chariot, and knight him "Sir Tallcal, the Elitist". He so much wants to be one of them.

Well, I don't know. I mean, I don't know him, but if I were to make a judgment based on his writings, which can sometimes show a disdain for others, it could appear so. Elitism is the belief that certain persons or members of certain, classes, groups or school of thought, deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources. More to the point, it is a sense of entitlement to be enjoyed by a group or class, and as such they should be the ones, or the one, to control, rule, or dominate the inferior, the the vulgar, little people. An elitist is one who takes great pride in belonging to a select or favored group, whether the favored group is real or imagined. In addition, an elitist feels, or rather knows, he is one of the enlightened ones, and thus is deserving to impart knowledge to the confused, befuddled, uneducated and unenlightened masses.

It should also be noted that, in general, an elitist knows the manner in which Utopianism can be achieved for all, whereas everyone else knows Utopia cannot be achieved if it consists of more than one person with the capacity of free thought.

Well, I'm glad to see - as evidenced by your remarks above and below - that you are firmly committed to raising the level of discourse in these here parts ....

It is good that we have those among us, like yourself, that are willing to lead by example ....

What exactly is your point with the above drivel other than a lame attempt at trying to be an online Jon Stewart?
John who ? ..... oh, yeah .... that guy .... sorry, I'm not much of a fan .....

If you are incapable of getting the point of my comments, I'm fairly certain that no explanation from me is going to help to shed any light for you. Judging from some of the comments, PM's and emails I get, others do not appear to have a similar problem.

The first thing that is necessary to actually understanding where someone else is coming coming from, is having the desire to see and understand things from where that other is looking from - and some folks are so intolerant of any viewpoint other than their own, that this is literally impossible for them to do.

They are so convinced of their own rightness, that they believe (truly, I promise ya) that there can be no other valid truth possible, other than what they themselves can conceive.

Name-calling (political labeling) is a substitute for actually engaging in a dialog with someone and understanding what they're about, and where they are really coming from.

Hint: As a substitute is never the real thing, no real understanding ever results from such activity.

Vital Datum: Understanding is the key to solving all problems.

You obviously haven't read past posts from your liberal comrade that offered nothing but seething hatred for Bush, Republicans and conservatives in general.
Nothing ? ...... yeah .... as I recall, TC once offered up that he was strongly looking at Fred Thompson in the Presidential election ....

Dunno .... maybe your time here on EO is extremely limited and you miss some of his posts ..... or maybe it's that you prefer to ignore (or just have no real ability to see or hear) what doesn't fit in with your pre-conceived opinion of someone else .....

If one wanted to determine whether TC had "nothing but seething hatred for Bush, Republicans and conservatives in general" one could view the following post of his (that the quote below is culled from) and come to some realistic conclusion about where he is probably at, politically (which likely ain't where you believe he is) - provided the motivation to do so was something other than what motivates you to make the characterization quoted above:

The problem we all face

Interestingly, as an aside, as far as political predictions are concerned, TallCal was prescient in that post .... while you on the otherhand gave us the following little bit of political genius:

"I repeat my prediction that come November Obama will suffer the Mother Of All Political Defeats."

Uhhhh, yeah .....

Please allow me to ask: How does that seem to you now ?

Food for Thought: TallCal made the following observation at one point in the post referenced above:

"I think rather than spreading hate (some postings) and acting in other juvenile ways, loyal GOP members may want to take the path of least resistance: start building bridges to those dis-infranchised republicans that would come back if the message was clear from the party.

Until that happens, it's just a sad funneral march to oblivion."

Much of the content here in the Soapbox - including your repeatedly calling me a liberal (when, in fact, I am conservative/libertarian politically, a registered Republican, and have so voted repeatedly all my adult life) in some lame-o attempt to simplistically label me - is direct evidence that that will not happen .... some folks just cannot help themselves  ..... and so, the sad funeral march will likely continue ...

Rare it would be, in the arena of politics - and most particularly here in the SoapBox - that one might not, on at least some occasions, express some disdain for others or their views ....

Let he who is without sin be the first to bend over and pick up that rock ....

I dunno .... I guess it depends on what you consider long ....

You do realize don't you, that after Reagan, the California voters have elected only 2 Democratic governors (Jerry Brown and Gray Davis) to 3 Republicans (Wilson, Deukmejian, and Arnold) ?

My point (probably poorly made) was that trying to simplistically paint the entire populace of the West Coast as being a political monolith, or being of all of the same mindset, is ludicrous ....

But hey, it is really catchy and does make a really great political soundbite .... if that is the level of understanding that one aspires to, then by all means - one should feel free to wallow in their own self-imposed ignorance .... it is, afterall, bliss ..... or so I am told .....

There was a time when conservatism was as popular in California as anywhere else in the USA. Demographic trends bring change. California is far afield from the political culture of most other states. How many states did Obama carry? Eleven, twelve or thirteen?

California has nearly 60 electoral votes because the census includes all persons, not just legal citizens. In this way, the illegals give increased political clout to California. An extra two or three electoral votes can throw a national election.
