I got this in an e-mail from a friend, kind of makes the point....

Well we have been told for a while now that the economy is good, the recession is over, look at the stock market things are good, the prices have buttomed out, the economy has buttomed out.....where have we heard this stuff before:

"Reports to the Department of Commerce indicate that business is in a satisfactory condition, Secretary Lamont said today." - News item.

January 21, 1930

"Trade recovery now complete President told. Business survey conference reports industry has progressed by own power. No Stimulants Needed! Progress in all lines by the early spring forecast." - New York Herald Tribune.

March 8, 1930
"President Hoover predicted today that the worst effect of the crash upon unemployment will have been passed during the next sixty days." - Washington Dispatch.

May 1, 1930
"While the crash only took place six months ago, I am convinced we have now passed the worst and with continued unity of effort we shall rapidly recover. There is one certainty of the future of a people of the resources, intelligence and character of the people of the United States - that is, prosperity." - President Hoover

June 29, 1930
"The worst is over without a doubt." - James J. Davis, Secretary of Labor.

August 29, 1930
"American labor may now look to the future with confidence." - James J. Davis, Secretary of Labor.

September 12, 1930
"We have hit bottom and are on the upswing." - James J. Davis, Secretary of Labor.

October 16, 1930
"Looking to the future I see in the further acceleration of science continuous jobs for our workers. Science will cure unemployment." - Charles M. Schwab.

October 20, 1930
"President Hoover today designated Robert W. Lamont, Secretary of Commerce, as chairman of the President's special committee on unemployment." - Washington dispatch.

I think the October 14, '29 state may be the wrong date.

And I think Ford shut down production for the change over to the V8/Model B cars at that time. He did the same thing in 1927 when he stopped most of the production of the Model T for the change over to the Model A.

The one that most hit me was Charles Schwab's comment on science curing unemployment. The same is said now with "green jobs". It makes me shudder!

It's cool cal, they just can't handle the fact that THEIR way put our economy in dire straights. They still love to brag about how busy they are then cry about how bad things are.

The unfortunate part is that neither of you want to admit that all of this started with congress and it was the dems as much as the republicans that didn't do a thing to stop it.

If I remember right, Frank and Dodd were the two who actually did a lot of damage to the country but no one seems to want to see them in jail. H*ll little scooter there was crucified for something so trivial based on a non-issue in comparison with what Frank and Dodd did to all of us, there is still so much hatred towards him that it just goes to show how brainwashed a lot of people are.

Like the lady said today where I was at breakfast "the good Lord gave us Obama and Obama has saved the country" then her daughter said to her "yea but I'm the one who will have to pay the bill mama, not you"

The "blame Bush" excuses that B. Hussein Obama and his lackeys continue to throw up for lack of substantive argument have about run out of steam. We've all seen the clips of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Maxine Waters praising the work of Franklin Raines and his cohorts at Freddie and Fannie while unifying in their efforts to defeat the Republicans' attempts at regulation of these agencies. The results of their successful efforts speak for themselves.

Regarding the current administration, I don't know if "lying buffoons" is an adequate description for all of them but the term certainly applies to the Speaker of the House when she tells the American public that the new health care legislation being proposed "won't cost a dime". The proper adjective for Obama and his gang would have to be "incompetence" to a breathtaking degree when talking about economic matters. In less than one year they've increased our national debt to more than that of all their previous administrations COMBINED. Wait until the resulting inflation from that starts to take effect. Their stimulus package has been a total failure (granted, congress shares the blame in that) and has seen unemployment rise to 10% instead of staying at their projection of "under 8.5%". Their proposed health care "reform" and "cap & tax" legislation threatens to cut the shaky legs from under an already feeble economy. The Democrats along with Obama propose tax increases during a severe recession that are in direct contradiction to their campaign promises not to raise taxes on the middle class.

Beyond their economic foibles, we watch with growing frustration as B. Hussein Obama dithers and piddles with the war in Afghanistan - the war he declared as "the good war" and the "war of necessity". Unable to make a hard decision, he attempts to appease his critics with a lame photo op at the expense of families receiving their fallen sons returning from the battlefield; the telling point of this disgraceful display was that only ONE family would consent to photos while 15 others turned him down - a fact conveniently ignored by the mainstream media. Meanwhile, as the situation over there deteriorates the boy president procrastinates the decisions on badly needed troops requested by his personally appointed military commander - all in the name of political appeasement to his radical left anti-war base.

Unfortunately, we'll soon start to see the consequences of these economic and foreign policy blunders - and to think this administration is only just getting started. Let's all chant together now...

"BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA - MMM, MMM, MMM!!

Most of my night has been spent at the hospital sitting there listening to old f*rts complain about their medical care, Bush, the economy and how the unions are getting screwed.

I got tired of it and had to open my mouth. I asked then who did they vote for and the response from everyone of them was Obama.

So I proceeded to rip into them (I know it may not seem nice to do, respect your elders, veterans and all that) about the need to think before you vote. I them on the complaint that their medicare will be cut under ant health care changes and they blamed everyone else for it except Obama. I told them that expecting the perpetual medicare based health care was a ridulous move on their part when they should have realised that Medicare is the expendible part of the larger system, "You people are on a time line to die and unlike Meidcaid, when something changes, the people who were complaining about it are buried because of how long it takes to fix problems in the system. So in other words no one gives a cr*p about you in washington no matter how you complain or threaten them Welcome to the world of the average joe"

It got to me because here is the ignorance of this group not understanding cause and effect of what can mean living a few more years or being put in a government issued box and buried in a mass grave. I left them all worked up and calling me all kinds of names. I had to return and they were still there arguing among themselves about how Bush back in 1970 set us up for a crash (I kid you not) so I again opened my mouth and told them the best thing that Ford can do is shut down all the plants and move everything to mexico, then I went back into the ER and waited by the Xray machine where I felt safe.

Well here is the other problem to this, we have three things going on all at once; Obama not making any solid decisions and that's making a lot of people upset, Hillary over there causing problems because she thinks that she is speaking to a bunch of New Yorkers while she is trying to bridge serious gaps with Pakistan and we have John Kerry stepping in and trying to act like president and SoS all at the same time while making plans. All of these things make us look like a joke to the world. Not once have I heard that Obama is actually being critisized as Bush was but the difference I am seeing is that Obama has put in place others who make the deicisions (Biden, Kerry, Clinton 1 and 2) which means he has taken a step back and allowing things to manifest due to a lack of maturity instead of taking the Bush approach and actually setting the policy or agenda and sticking to it while delegating the tasks with specific goals to reach.

I have a feeling we have another Vietnam on our hands with the change of direction and real lack of leadership.

Unfortunately, we may have more than just Vietnam on our hands in the not-so-distant future. With all the headlines about the US economy, health care and Afghanistan dominating the news everyone seems to have forgotten about the situation in Iran. No doubt the mullahs and terrorist leaders over there are praising Allah for providing these distractions while they rush down the home stretch of their nuclear development program. While Barack Hussein Obama wrings his hands over the politically acceptable numbers of troops to deploy and nationalizing our health care and auto industries, the Iranians are putting the finishing touches in their nuclear weapons and delivery systems.

Fortunately for the rest of the world, Benjamin Netanyahu is no doubt keeping a close eye on this situation and will probably be forced to take military action unilaterally because of Obama's negligence. We can only speculate on the repercussions of an Israli attack on Iran, but the consequences would be worse if Iran is allowed to go nuclear while Obama arrogantly assumes the power of his personality will keep them in check. The bottom line is that once Iran completes their development of the nuclear weapons not only Israel, but also the rest of the civilized world is a potential target for these Islamo-facists.
