Does that mean there will be a 25 hour day when it changes back in November? Or am I getting too technical?

Go ahead with your normal/drive/sleep/. Then explain any apparent violation in remarks time. A flag at 02:00 with a comment like "DST Time Change"

There was a post on another forum by a member that would be driving when the time changed and he was going to leave a gap in the line between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. . Think about that . Saying you were driving from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. would be log falsification because that time didn't exist . Leaving the gap would also explain having the total hours add up to 23 .

When I did try the sprinter for a couple of months, doing logs was one of the things I didn't miss. But oh well, the sprinter was not made to my needs. Missed having a soft mattress, refrigerator and freezer, 20" LCD TV, DVD player, convectional oven, sink with running water, APU, air conditioner, Websto, etc...
Well, you get my meaning. lol

Yea, We are "Stuck" in our motel room. Clean towels, hot shower. Free Breakfast. The truck is in the shop, should be fixed Monday. Just in time to get out and TRY to get used to "Daylight Stupid Time". I kinda really don't like it. The sun knows what time it is. What a shame the polititions don't seem to know even that. Noon by the sun is noon. Now the lawn will have another hour to burn everyday. Man, those bums in Washington. Imagine, having the power to screw up our orbit around the sun. They are WAY out of control. You would think the world revolves around them! Man, let us not forget that G.W. could start and control hurricanes. Layoutshooter

The switch away from daylight savings time caused consternation among terrorist groups this year.

At precisely 5:30 Israel time on Sunday, two coordinated car bombs exploded in different cities, killing three terrorists who were transporting the bombs. It was initially believed that the devices had been detonated prematurely by klutzy amateurs.

A closer look revealed the truth behind the untimely explosions. Three days before, Israel had made a premature switch from daylight savings time to standard time in order to accommodate a week of Slihot, involving pre-sunrise prayers. Palestinians refused to "live on Zionist time." Two weeks of scheduling havoc ensued.

The bombs had been prepared in a Palestine-controlled area, and set on Daylight Savings time. The confused drivers had already switched to standard time. As a result, the cars were still en-route when the explosives detonated, delivering to the terrorists their well-deserved demise.

Pet peeve: it's not Daylight Savings Time, it's Daylight Saving Time. There's no "s", it's not a sale at the mall, there are no reduced prices on Daylight and no one is hoarding Daylight. There are two Times, Standard and Daylight Saving.

We now return you to your regular scheduled programming...

Makes sense, but how are you going to log it in the fall? Do you double line between 2 and 3 in the morning?

I will stick with Standard time. I see no valid reason to mess with the sun. What effect will this have on global warming? Geez, they can't have it both ways. You better believe that an hour extra daylight everyday will raise the earth's temp. So much for blaming green house gasses. Layoutshooter

Shooter,
I really have to disagree with you on this one (I agree with most of what you say on this site) but on this one you butchered it pretty bad.

By changing from standard to daylight saving time you are not changing how many hours of daylight the earth sees. The earth sees just as many hours of daylight today as it did yeaterday, maybe a couple of minutes longer, because days are getting longer. By changing the time you really only change the actual time that the masses wake up, go to work,.... and go to sleep, which some people think it helps in some ways that I will not get into.

Geez, that was meant to be tounge in cheek. I actually read something along those lines years ago in the reader write in section in the Miami Herlold. Some bafoone was complaining about his lawn being burned more now that Daylight Saving Time was in effect.
I really see no reason to change back and forth. Just stay on the time the sun stays on. Layoutshooter

Believe it or not, I thought it was, but did not see any smilies and I thought you were serious. Anyway, really, to us as expediters, it does not matter, except that we have to convert the time that the dispatch gives us, so, in my oppinion, much more trouble than to get along with the gov'ment on this one.
