Make sure you sign on with someone whom'll hold your hand each move, has satellite tracking so you don't get a minutes rest), and does all things for you so's you don't learn anything outa the box. There are a couple a few that I can tink of, but, lets see what they come up with.

To get a good overview of Express-1 I would strongly suggest you read back at least a year in the general, newbies and recruiter forums. That doesn't mean read every word, it means go back through the thread titles and read the ones that sound informative. There has been a lot of discussion of X1 as well as a lot of discussion of this business/lifestyle in general. Good luck.

"Don't get a Minutes rest?" U got to be kidding, there is no such company in expediting. Heck we all would be with them, all others would have to fold up

At Express 1 the QC only beeps load details and every Tuesday with an updated FSC rate. other then that it's extra baggage at too big a price!!!

i currently drive for express -1 so ask any questions and i will give you straight answers i am a solo straight truck driver but talk regularly to the cargo van tractor trailer and sprinter drivers so im pretty well informed depending on what your expectations are im pretty sure i can sum it all up for you and i will tell you what you need to know to make an educated decision

Don't know on their vans or TT's, but a $1.12 a mile average on a straight would be a total deal breaker for me. Too much freight including plain LTL that pays better.

Not doable for an average with fuel at current prices.
.36 FSC for a straight is too low. Still below the national index based on current prices. Should be about .41. Add that to only a 1.12 base rate and it isn't workable if there is any DH at either end of the run.

I know they have some perks tossed in....but somehow the singles I talk to say they are making money....now that is subjective as well....theres a dif between making money and making a living...do they have a maintenaince fund, health plan retirement savings....that I don't know....making money to some is just treading water....

I guess it would depend on what those "perks" are. They would have to be pretty significant.
Based on 1.12 rate and a .36 FSC, at least half of your revenue is going in the fuel tank.
Not at almost 5.00 a gallon. Making alittle money, but not much.
One would have to have some major miles and very little DH for that to work.

And some pretty log savy drivers....

well to set it straight im a solo express-1 owner operator and im treading water and yes there is alot of dh and i am out of pocket on 95% of the runs to finish and what perks are there?if there are some im not getting any and miles not major at all and yes you have to be extremely log savvy

they are not bumbing the rate sometimes for you? Do you ask? I've heard from others that it does occur....they seem to be bumping a CV rated trip to sprinter rate more often....that extra .20 is a mile is a make or brake point for some...

BTW..define out of pocket? do you mean your fuel costs are MORE then the FSC or do you have to pay a portion of the fuel costs....very important point...

no bumping of the rates for me i can count on 1 hand how many 1.20 rates i have had in the last 4 months everything is 1.12 and the weekly miles are very low and with the dh i have to travel consistenly close to 100 miles or more even with the fsc i would do better getting off the road and driving locally but i enjoy the freedom of being my own boss so to speak that i continue to do it but with the miles getting lower and lower every week its becoming harder talked to another o/o solo and he was in service all week last week and got under 1000 miles

I've heard the same stories...I guess them putting on 10 or so trucks a week is really hurting....

No offense to you, but it sounds like you AREN'T your own boss, if you're letting mediocrity, or worse, control you. Being a slave to your situation isn't what I'd call a business.

The 1.12 wouldn't be so bad,if they took say 15% of loads you find for yourself. They want like 38 or 40 percent, also they don't to my knowledge give any money toward moving trk into a better area.

not offended at all and yes ovm adding 15 trucks a week doesnt help and i am looking at other options as well as maybe a scenery change and no they wont give you any money to move unless they have a run lined up for you know of many trucks that sit a week or more if they dont move themselves only problem with moving yourself sometimes your over 250 miles from a good running lane and its going to cost you 150-200 dollars to move but for me i have spent it rather than sit for days
