need advice about bolt tristate

Where have you seen drivers making that claim? We are a team with 'E' unit, have been scouring this site for 2 weeks and I have not seen that trend. I will say that we initially called a couple of expediting companies to inquire about leasing our tractor, as a general rule those recruiters are not returning our calls to check up on our status or to see if we have more questions on material and info they forwarded. They are well aware that we will potentially be a great team as we need no hometime, we stay out forever and a day without needing a break, clean driving records, etc. SO, maybe there is some merit to your claim, maybe our tractor is NOT in demand? OH MY, more questions and concerns for us to ponder, eh?

We will investigate in our manner, we will continue to try and get as much information as possible, we will be be honest, we will ask good questions, we will try to determine our best path, we WILL take as much time as we need to come to a decision about OUR FUTURE as we need, we will investigate at length to insure we make the right decision. We will do it our way, if you don't like the way we do it, or the information we have given about ourselves I am very sorry for the pain this might be causing you or others. This business of expediting is different than the trucking world we have known, I have been told by companies that many drivers talk with them for 5 minutes then show up at orientation only to be upset with the way things will work, we will take 5 days, 5 weeks, 5 months to be sure this expedoiting business will work for us, many on this forum have been wonderful and very helpful, and some have been downright rude with a mightier tha n thou response to us...NO PROBLEM, opinions are what a forum is all about, we do hear EVERYTHING that EVERYONE is saying and taking it for what it is worth, your reply above is worthless!
Your bullying words will not affect us in the process of taking our time, making a solid decision when the time is right and doing it our way based on the advice we get here, there, and elsewhere!

i am with bolt also hightop, sprinter able to hold 3 skids, i am personally not doing very well..average rate per mile with fuel surcharge is 85 cents, in 3 months i have had only 2 weeks with over 1000 miles, ive hauled freight for 70 cents a mile, i have had loads that i should not have taken, by being overweight by a couple hundred pounds, and for some reason they think you can haul 12 32wx32lx36 h if you double stack them, actually ya might be able to if you push them against the walls and remove your wheel wells, personally i am going back to panther, i am the last of the three in orientation,to make it this far,others like relent are doing pretty good, i always like hearing about successful expeditors..bolt is a ok company if you are in a sprinter, there just not working out for me, i want the rate per mile , not the percentage which can be as low as 60 cents a mile

So, as a result, when I had two or three bad weeks as an owner with panther I paniced. I really don't have anything bad to say about panther or my current carrier. I just really need a good two to three months of solid running so that I can put a decent amount of money away in the bank. I also highly doubt any company is going to look down on me for switching a few companies in my quest to find the right fit in this business. That's just a part of the trucking industry in general. So, I think i'm going to give bolt a shot because they are a smaller carrier and may be able to help be become successful. Also, I was a team player with panther, out of a 1 year period I only turned down five loads. So, my lack of success was not due to dedication. I have also been on the road since last march without taking any time off. So, as you can see, I am very serious about making this work. Thanks for all of your advice.

Thank you for being forthright enough to admit that. Many people fall into that same trap. One thing to keep in mind is it can take a month for income to begin when starting with a new company. I don't think Bolt is going to be a magic panacea. They are a good company but I'm pretty sure they are the same as the rest as far as no magic powers. You (as in the hopefully LOTS of prospects and newbies who'll read this) also have to remember the few weeks of no pay as you switch companies as well as the escrow withheld at a new company that may be finished at the old company. Leo is right - being with any carrier, including Bolt, is no magic panacea. While I have only run at two carriers, I have friends at others which are certainly doing well (Panther, Fedex, etc.) To some extent it is the luck of the draw, it is also your own work ethic and the company you leased on with.

And having proper startup funds is critical. If you don't have the actual funds in hand in a savings account, you can make a go of it with credit - just be aware that's it's a bigger gamble.

If you roll the dice and use credit to finance your startup, then you risk being in the position of not just having lost some money, but being on the hook for debt - and if you can't make a go of it, you could very well lose a good, or what marginal, credit rating you have - definitely not a good position to be in, having just failed at a business venture - particularly if you were depending on said venture as a sole or primary source of income. And now you have a poor credit rating to boot - possibly when you need it most.

Additionally it is harder to make a go of it using credit, as now you are having to bear the cost of being in debt as an additional burden.

I was in the position when I started of essentially having no liquid, readily available cash to fund my start up. But I had good credit and used it to finance my startup costs. I have made it a point since, to try and manage my financial affairs, in what I consider at least, a responsible manner. The first priority being, to pay off operational costs on a monthly basis, and the second to reduce any other outstanding debt.

The interest you pay on debt has the potential to literally eat you alive. Make it a priorty to avoid getting into debt in the first place (and not just as regards business, but life in general), and if you are in it, do EVERYTHING you can to get out of it, as rapidly as possible.

Freedom is a great thing - generally desired by all (except the insane) - but to whatever extent you have debt, you are just that much less free.
