Have you considered a Freightliner Glider. A Glider would allow you to use whatever engine that you choose and you could stay away from EGR engines, DPF's, DEF, etc.

So long as they are "non-directional" you should be able to switch them side to side with no problem. Many operators do this with steer tiires.

I don't have a clue as to whether or not this would be a good investment but, in my opinion, this tire is the UG in ugly.
