It's a Team's Life
When It Rains It Pours
When it Rains it Pours
While many of you have been working since the beginning of the year, Dave and I haven’t had work since before Christmas. We had every intention of starting 2026 strong; however, a power higher than us decided that working was not in the plans.
We had a load that we were staged and ready to pick up when a family emergency changed our plans completely. We ended up coming home and have not left yet. The family emergency has been taken care of so that is a good thing; however, other emergencies have since popped up.
We had a couple of weeks of below zero temperatures. While Dave did everything possible to make sure that the truck stayed warm and the fuel would not gel up, unfortunately the fuel did gel up anyway. Dave went to start the truck and within minutes the truck shut down. He tried again with a similar result. It became very clear that we would have to have the truck towed to a shop. The shop determined that the truck needed six new fuel injectors and a wiring harness. While the truck was in the shop we asked them to look into an air leak that also showed up. Finally, they found a minor issue with the transmission. Of course, the majority of the work was no longer covered under warranty. Four days later we brought the truck home. It sat for the weekend and then Dave tried starting the truck again the beginning of the week. The truck ran for a few minutes and then stopped running. So after thousands of dollars in repairs the original issue was not fixed. Dave called the shop and insisted that they pay to have the truck towed again. Time will tell if the shop can get it right on the second attempt.
The week before, Rocky and Barkley may have gotten into some blueberry muffins that we had made. We noticed that two and half muffins were missing. We had called the vet to ask what we should do. The vet gave us guidance and we made an appointment to have both dogs tested to make sure that they were alright. Both dogs came back with a clean bill of health. The same day that the truck got towed for the second time Rocky may have had a mild seizure. We are still waiting on test results to determine what happened. The vet did not believe that Rocky’s seizure had anything to do with the previous week’s event.
I am sharing these events to show how business life and personal life might cross over each other. In all of our situations we were glad that they happened while at home instead of being somewhere that may not have a shop or vet nearby. This also is a good time to remind you how important saving for a rainy day can be.
Here’s to millions of safe, profitable and RAINY DAY miles.
