Uniforms or ?

Bob has worn company uniforms for most of his working life and I have worn various uniforms that I created for the job at hand.

My first work apparel I created was for my job at the Morton County Courthouse which consisted of an embroidered Data Processing t-shirt with my name that was pressed each day and slacks.   My job was in IT and I spent much of day crawling around under desks plugging and unplugging computers or printers.

Next when Bob was with US Xpress we had t-shirts made with the company name "US Xpress" and our names.   This was for two reasons Bob was recognizable when he went into a shipper or receiver and they were easy to maintain.

In the summer we had a lawn care business and I once again had our company t-shirts made with Bob and Linda's Lawn Trimming.   These t-shirts were bright so that we were visible as we were often watching what we were doing and not the traffic.   Our t-shirts were always embroidered as I thought that looked the nicest for what we were doing.

The constant in all of this is that we wore a uniform that was quickly identifiable and that did not offend others.   We have seen drivers enter a shipper or receiver with sports logo-ed apparel, offensive sayings on their clothing, or even wearing a competitors apparel.   The people we deal with are just that people with opinions and prejudices and we figure why start the initial conversation off trying to over come what we are wearing?

Henry Albert wrote a blog about this on Team Run Smart that started me thinking of our past twenty years, on our various work apparel and why we wore what we wore.   What kind of picture are we presenting to the customer when we walk in?
