We have been involved with Trucker Buddy for several years and this is our first year of working with Stephanie and her two classes. She has made this an amazing experience for us and I can only imagine how much fun her classes are having with these projects.
We send a postcard to France a couple times a month. The postcards are of cities or a place of interest and I like to ask a question on the post card such as "What is the State Bird?" At the end of the month I use Streets and Trip to create a map of each city we visited in the previous month and the mileages. I let the students convert the distances.
Stephanie gives us feedback on how the students use the postcards to give reports in English and how much they enjoy receiving the post cards. She has also discussed how they are amazed at how big our states are and how many miles we travel a month.
Most of our communication is done by email since we do not get our mail often. When we went home at Christmas we had a large packet of mail and I enjoyed answering the many questions asked of us. They sent us postcards from their area and SAINT-MALO France is BEAUTIFUL.
We did a radio interview with Reed Black on Landline and this was made into a podcast. It was so much fun to hear Stephanie's voice and her excitement about the program. One thing for sure we get a lot of satisfaction out of this program and it has been fun to make a great friend in France.
