Truck Storage Ideas - part 2

Storage in a moving vehicle can make life interesting as the truck moves back and forth going down the road. Who wants to open a cabinet and have something fall on their head or have their nicely stacked clothes all askew.

Stacking clear boxes helps to not only be able to use all of the available space, it helps to be able to find what you have. Sometimes I feel as if I have organized chaos as I have to move one box to see what is in another box but I always find what I am looking for. There are several small boxes in this cabinet as it is easier to keep track of what I have, one box for chargers, one box for personal items: extra soap, fingernail polish remover, cotton balls, one tote that is for odds and ends; batteries, two sided tape and what ever else does not have a place.

Luckily I have room for my wireless printer in a cabinet that also has an electrical outlet. The printer is also storage for the printer paper that I keep under the lid until needed. My windows computer that I use for a few things is then stored on top of this printer. Very easy to use the wireless printer in this cabinet and it is stowed away out of site.

In one cabinet I have an area for books. Some of those books are not real and they are actually hollow - notice the Paris book that holds my Trucker Buddy postcards, stamps, and pen. This is a top shelf, as I do not use every day and if I need to get something when the bed is not down I have to use the stepstool.

In the bottom cabinet I have my Mac computer, my sewing bag, my filing cabinet, and then my office drawers. I keep my Mac computer in a computer bag so that when I grab the computer I have everything in one place, my power cord, my back up hard drive, and my budget book, as well as a notebook. In my sewing bag is my current cross-stitch project with everything I need inside that bag. The file box is my office, it has of course files but it also has my stamps, envelopes, stapler and pens. The two-drawer box has highlighters, extra pens, tape, paperclips and other various items needed for a mobile office.

Finally this is how we store our clothes. Bob has the top shelf and we use baskets to contain underwear and socks, then other baskets for our weekend clothes, T-Shirts and jeans. I have the bottom shelf; after we do laundry we pull out our baskets and refill them easily. Towards the back of the shelves we keep towels, lighter jackets, and clothing items we do not use often.

For the driver that gets home every week or every night this might seem like a lot. We often do not get home twice during the same season so I often have to

pack the truck for hot weather on one day and frigid cold on the next. I also learned my lesson many years ago that if all goes wrong have enough clothing and blankets to stay warm using layers.

Next is food storage ideas.
