Thunder and Lightening

I spent many years as a child in an adobe house with a tin roof and there were not many sounds better than rain hitting the roof.  We have a Fantastic Fan vent in the roof of the sleeper that we leave open whenever the weather will allow.  When the thunder wakes me up first thing I get to do is jump up and close the vent.  There is a setting on the fan to close automatically if rain hits it but I have found this is more bother than it is worth as it opens and closes automatically.  We then get to listen to the vent open and close while is raining and the vent is not quiet when it performs this task.  So I jump up and close the vent, but I do not put the cover over the vent which just muffles the sound of the thunder, rain and the lightening.  The vent has a clear dome so we can the flashes of lightening which we enjoy.I was able to get up and set my computer on the steering wheel and just enjoy watching the rain come down in sheets accompanied by wind and thunder.  What a great storm which lasted about one hour and now has moved on.  Now I can just hear the birds singing in the trees while we wait the sun and new day.
