Take Advantage

This past week we delivered in Utah and then headed south to spend the weekend with our daughter.  As luck would have it the Richard Petty Driving Experience was happening.  We drive slow in our truck to conserve on fuel but both Bob and I are speed freaks with one always trying to out do the other.  Well Bob signed up for 18 laps and Brandy and I signed up for the 8 lap school.  The ground school was interesting and really clarified what to expect on the track.  I climbed into my car and the helper hit the ignition!  Darn did that sound good and my lead car took off with me in hot pursuit!  I was so excited I went straight from first to fourth as I was watching turn one coming at me!  Well I adjusted quickly and my first lap was 109 mph with my last lap being 136 mph.  Bob made it up to 139 mph on his last lap.  Bob and I have both been fast before but the thrill of making those turns on that track will not soon go away.  We are both very pleased we took the time to add this adventure to our scrapbook of our lives!

Well you did not think I would let this go without bragging a bit!  Brandy and I were in a class of 18; 14 men and 4 women with 4 of the men having done this before.  After the class there was an awards ceremony and the picture does not lie I am in the middle of the podium for the fastest average lap time and speed.  I have a feeling those guys took one look at me and saw old lady with painted fingernails and discounted my competitiveness...  Oh ya it was fun to be called up to the front and to have one of the guys shake my hand and tell me great job!  The other guy acted as if I was invisible!  Bob was also pretty proud of me!
