Purple Oatmeal

Another difference Bob and I have is I really like breakfast and he does not usually get up early enough for breakfast and if he is up early enough he prefers to skip this meal.  I carry Quaker Oatmeal in the truck which is very easy and quick to make in the microwave.  This year I started using a mixture of berries in my oatmeal with my main berry being a blueberry.  When I could get fresh raspberries and blackberries at a good price I would add them.  With winter coming on I have had difficulty finding any fresh berries at a reasonable price so I have switched to frozen.

I cook my oatmeal for about 1 minute then I had about 1/2 cup of blueberries and what ever other frozen fruit I have and then continue microwaving until the oatmeal is cooked and the berries are warm.  The cool side affect of all this is I have purple oatmeal!  I really get a kick out of this.  I also really liked it when you could buy butter in colors and thought it was great fun to butter my toast with green butter!  Bob always raised his eyebrows at this and really did not get the enjoyment I had over funny colored food!
