Set up spreadsheets - file folders - financial categories - a place to keep receipts (in the truck)
Each day our trucking business creates some type of receipt that if not taken care of properly means one less tax deduction. Figure out a method that will work for you. I have an area I keep receipts until they are scanned (I use an app), after scanning I enter the receipt information in Quicken and attach the receipt to the entry, I store a copy of the receipt in a file on my computer, finally placing the receipt in a folder that will be left at the house next time we go home. When the new year starts I label my file folders for the expenses that match the categories in Quicken.
Truck
While home for Christmas (any time home) the truck is gone over with a fine-tooth comb and if any preventive maintenance is needed it is done. The last thing we want is to have the truck in the shop while we are away from home.
Health
Stock the truck with healthy foods and go to the store with a list in hand of what to buy to make healthy foods. Research recipes to create meals that will fit into our lifestyle while we are on the road and easy to prepare ahead of time. This last year we purchased a pellet grill and we will be using this often to prepare many of our meals.
