Perspective

Much of our decision relies on where we are in the queue. When we hear the beep of the Qualcomm our heart still skips a beat; what are the miles, what is the total pay, where is the load going to end up, do we have to pay tolls, and what is the weather going to be like in the winter. When the load meets all of our criteria we say yes. We then hope we receive the load. Once we receive the load we pick up the product, deliver the load and then wait for our settlement.  Once we get our settlement the pay is broken out is accessorial charges.  All of a sudden that load does not look so good.  We will say, "You mean we used our lift gate and that accessorial charge was only that much?" or "That was a HazMat load and we were only paid that amount?"  The bottom line though is we took the load and it paid well until we the breakout!  Perspective can be everything and the overall pay for the load really did pay well.
