Offended Easily?

While debate and sharing of ideas can be fun and even enlightening the direct insult can have us fuming. The following saying caught my attention and is a good reminder that if you are active on social media or forums, you can choose to ignore or come unglued and let your fingers get carried away.

“When someone tries to trigger you

by insulting you or by doing

or saying something that irritates you,

take a deep breath

and switch off your ego.

Remember that if you are easily offended,

you are easily manipulated.”

Many make a choice to share ideas so that you can decide what might work for you by considering another idea. How often do we see something simple and think to ourselves, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Networking and sharing ideas can help everyone, including the original writer. What would our world be like if no one wrote anything or posted a video of how to do something? Even if we disagree with how they do something, we have to admire that they took the time to share. The old saying, “If you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all” comes to mind. The opposite is true if we like what we see or read a thumbs up or nice job to let the originator know that we appreciate their efforts.

We also can choose to sit on the fence and never let our feelings or thoughts be displayed. The choice can be made to be a stalker and only comment on other posts. This saying then comes to mind:

“To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, and be nothing.”

― Dave Ramsey

How often, when someone criticizes another post or idea do we look at the person who is criticizing and realize that is all they do, criticize. They post nothing original or any of their ways of doing things. I wonder why that is?
