I need something from Amazon before we get home

When away from home for months, it has become easier to purchase and have an item shipped to a location we pick and know it will be safe until we can retrieve our purchase.  Have you noticed off in the corner of many truck stops, there are Amazon lockers with boxes of all different sizes.  They also all have unique names up in the right corner.

After much research and being away from home for a few months, we needed a few things and decided to give the Amazon locker a try.  It was easier to use than expected as there were many ways to find the locker in an area we wanted.  The easiest way was to google the address of where we will be and enter that address, and Amazon will show what lockers are in the area.

Once we picked a locker location, a delivery date will be shown, and that is when we needed to decide if we would be near that location to pick up our items.  Once the package was delivered, we had three days to pick it up, or the package would be returned, and this is the best part; we would be issued a full refund.

After the package is delivered, an email was received with the details of how to retrieve our order. The email will include a bar code that is used to open the locker.  It is like magic!  I used my phone with the bar code showing and held it up to the reader, and within seconds a locker door opened, and there was my package.

The important part is to watch the expected delivery date of the items ordered to ensure we are in the area.  One of the problems is if an item ships early, the clock starts counting when the package is placed in the Amazon Locker.  After the delivery, I received a survey, and I praised the service and added a note that truck drivers are passing through an area and counting on the date of the initial purchase.  If the item is delivered early, the countdown should not start early.

Getting what we needed delivered to the truck stop instead of running all over town in the truck, wasting fuel was awesome.  There is basically no risk in trying out the Amazon Lockers with their return policy.
