Holidays on the road

Valentine’s Day is this weekend which I had forgot about.  This and many other holidays throughout the year lose some of their meaning.  Some of these holidays cause businesses to shut down which can impact our income stream.  We often even forget there is a holiday on the horizon until someone will mention don’t expect a load this Monday as such and such a holiday is happening.

Before we came out on the road we celebrated some holidays with family.  Bob’s sister owned a flower shop and so the whole family pitched in to deliver flowers on Valentines Day and Mothers day.   On Valentine’s Day we always worked from sunup to sundown.  Presidents day was always a holiday from work but was not actually celebrated.  One of the funny things about our before life compared to now was we always looked forward to these holidays so we could have an extra day to do whatever we wanted.  Now we are basically doing what we want and the holiday means nothing to us but a day where we have the potential to lose revenue.  I find it rather ironic on how our perceptions have changed from being told we have to work 9 to 5 five days a week and now wanting to work seven days a week!  Funny how when you own your own business your mind set changes and you start looking for more work.
