It's a Team's Life
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
This week Dave and I are celebrating 25 years of marriage. If you readers don’t mind, I would like to take this space to talk about us. We met because a mutual friend’s father passed away and both Dave’s family and I and a friend went to the funeral. Well, we didn’t met AT the funeral. We met after the funeral. A group of single people gathered and visited for a while at our friend’s house.
After that day, I had not heard from Dave. At another single’s group gathering I had asked some friends if they had talked with Dave. They had not but suggested that I call him. So with friends around I made the call. We talked about getting together a few weeks later for another single’s activity. It is amazing that we are truck drivers because we made 7 u-turns on that first “date”.
Three years later were we married. I remember promising Dave that if he married me, life would not be boring. I believe that I have lived up to that promise.
For nearly half of our married years we have been truck drivers. The first year Dave went out on his own while I continued my W-2 job. After a year, I quit my job (without ever having talked to Dave about it beforehand!) and we have been in a truck together ever since.
Looking back, we both agree that we wish we would have started driving truck earlier in our marriage. Having said that, I am not one to look back so I will say that I am happy that we finally got to where we are today.
Dave, I just want to say how much I appreciate all the hard work you do to keep our truck in tip top shape. I appreciate everything that you do at home too. It is because of you that I have a life that I love living. I could not imagine my life any other way. Thank you! I love you!
Here’s to many more years together and....
Here’s to millions of safe and prosperous miles together!
