Going High Tech

How many of you have some piece of technology in your truck? Most, I would figure, have a cell phone. Some might even have a television with either an antenna or a satellite dish of some sort. And still others might have some sort of hot spot to get internet on the road. Finally, some may have all or a combination of all that is listed above.

We have cell phones, tablets, a laptop computer and a printer in our truck. We have two different hot spots for internet service. This was not planned; however, to save costs on our cell phone service we added a hot spot to our account. Finally, we have a satellite dish that is an extension of our home account. For a small additional fee we have a box in the truck similar to what we have at home.

With all of this technology one would think that we are set. In a way, we are. However, when I start adding up the cost of all of this technology I wonder if there is a less expensive way to go. What do you do to save money on technology? Do you just avoid having so many ways to communicate with work or family and entertainment resources?

Recently, we met up with a husband and wife team that has added Starlink to their truck. We know others who have done the same. When they told us how much they pay per month we were shocked. Of course, the service that Starlink provides seems to be the best around. Maybe the cost is worth it?! I suppose the cost might be worth it if we could drop some of our other technology for one form that could replace many. The technology is so new that we want to take a wait and see approach before we jump all in. For now we are doing our due diligence to make sure that advancing into the latest and greatest technology is right for us. Until then…

Here’s to millions of safe, profitable and HIGH TECH miles.
