Fun with our ATDyamics Trailer Tail

Our favorite story is while pulling onto a base to unload we were directed to the line for inspections.   In a few minutes one of the young MP's with his dog came over and told us to get into the line to be taken back and unloaded.   He went on to apologize for his colleague’s ignorance, as he was not military and did not understand the importance of our truck.   Our truck he said was placarded and to top all of that we had that very important security device on the back of our truck...   He went on to thank us for our patience and not getting upset with his colleague.   I took all of this in with a smile and thanked him.

The Trailer Tail has been very easy for us as we back into parking lanes; we very rarely have to close the tail due to us not being very far back into the lane.   We have been in some pretty good snowstorms and ice storms; there was no problem while opening or closing the "Tail".

We have been in windstorms where the interstate has been shut down and other windstorms where I thought the interstate should have been shut down and the "Tail" has had no problems.   To tell the truth we forget it is there until we are ready to unload or load freight.

We have had a rough winter with very frigid temperatures and our fuel mileage has done ok.   We have not seen the great return we would have liked on the "Tail" and the return ATdynamics where hoping we would see.   We stay between the 2/10 to 3/10 increase per mile per gallon so there is an improvement.   One of our problems is that the "Tail" works best and was tested at 65 mph and since we run a pretty steady 58 mph we see less of a return.    For those that like to run faster the percentage of return will climb.

Another story on the "Tail":

We were at another base and I wanted to make a right turn and I was waiting for a car marked with "fire department" all over it.   As I waited the guy decided to turn on to my road without a signal.   I was a little irritated until he stopped and rolled down his window and said "Hey, I think one of your back doors are open!" to which I replied "The doors are closed you are seeing an aerodynamic device and thanks for noticing."   I am always glad when someone thinks they see something wrong and they go out of their way to let someone else know.

The ATdyanmics Trailer Tail has sure made for an interesting time.   We are looking forward to spring and seeing how the warmer months will help up.   With the "Tail" we have seen our first 14 MPG fill-up on one tank.   Our average lifetime fuel mileage is staying at 11.73.
