Free MONEY

How to get free money?  Burying money in the backyard is the worst form of saving as there is no free money what goes into the jar is what comes out, the same amount.  Put money into passbook savings at the bank where you have your business or personal account and get maybe .20 APR each month.  This money is usually quick to get to if needed in an emergency and with the way we have it set up within seconds I can transfer money from savings to our business checking.

Another form of free money is a high-interest online savings account.  These online accounts are easy to use and right now I am getting 1.30 at Synchrony.  The online accounts are tied to our checking account and I manage how much money is transferred.  Simple to set up and simple to manage.  The online accounts are where I keep our business emergency fund, our personal savings, our personal emergency fund, and also one account where I keep money earmarked for vacations.  It takes about four days to transfer money into these accounts and about six days to get the money back to our bank.

Retirement is another area where we get free money. Each month we pay into our retirement accounts and at the end of the month, I update the amount I have in each account.  We are able to look at our investments online and while it is very disappointing to see the amounts go down it is very exciting to see the gain of interest that get us closer to our goals.  By far I am not an expert in this area and we have an investment firm help us with our decisions, yearly we go over what we are doing and if anything needs to be tweaked we make changes at this time.

Credit Cards are another form of free money if handled right. If a balance is carried over or there is a yearly fee the free money can quickly disappear.  We have two credit cards, one for our business and one for personal use.  The Discover card gives cash back bonuses without a yearly fee.  Our personal credit card also has cash back and no annual fee, but the cash back is in Disney dollars that is saved until time to make another Disney trip.  The secret is to pay off the balance due on credit cards each month and reap the free money rewards.

The above examples are some of many ways to get “free money” by way of interest earned.  Once though we pay fees, late penalties, overdrafts, tickets, or pay interest on something we have purchased our free money becomes burned or wasted money.  When looking over the business finances or personal finances see how much free money is earned each month and get rid of the burned money, interest as soon as possible.

On the first of each month, I can be found going over our accounts and updating them with hopefully interest earned.   This is a great way to start the month updating our accounts with “free money”.
