How often have you heard “I do not pay to park my truck”?

Some park on side roads, on freeway ramps, or in any place where they do not think someone will knock on their door in the middle of the night.  We all know the dangers of parking on the freeway ramps if you happen to get hit as you will lose in the long run.  Parking on side streets or in an open area can get you killed or your truck tagged.  All of these results or could happen.

In most truck stops that charge to park if the driver spends enough money in the store or buys fuel, the parking is free for 24 hours.  If fuel is not needed that is where the spending gets interesting.  Do you spend enough money to park free in the store?  Do you buy something you need?  If the truck stop has a restaurant the food is becoming expensive enough that one meal will cover the normal $25.00 needed in expenses to get out of the paid parking free.

If you normally cook in your truck that takes out the option of buying a meal to spend the $25.00 dollars.  The other option is to buy something in the store as laundry and showers do not count. One interesting comment I heard from another driver who refused to pay to park is that they bought basically trinkets to equal $25.00.  They did not spend their hard-earned money on something that is a tax-deductible item.  That is a lose-lose situation.

Think before you buy something to keep from paying to park.
